Unlike other classes, the Planetologist cannot be chosen during character creation; it's an in-game unlock that requires significant effort to fully access.This guide details all nine quests you need to complete to fully unlock the Planetologist skill tree, helping you navigate the sometimes unmarked objectives across Arrakis. Remember to also progress your regular tech tree alongside these quests, as they will take you to high-level zones in the northern Hagga Basin and beyond.

How to Get All Planetologist Skills in Dune: Awakening

To fully unlock the Planetologist tree, players must complete a series of nine quests, most of which are unmarked on your compass unless actively tracked. Knowing their locations beforehand can save significant exploration time.

Quest #1: Minimic Film Recovery

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Derek's camp, just north of Imperial Testing Station 02 in Hagga Basin South.
• Objective: Agree to help Derek find Minimic Film within Imperial Testing Station 02. The film is hidden behind a door disguised as a bookshelf; look for a bookshelf with a glowing yellow book at the end of the dungeon.
• Completion: Grab the film and return to Derek. This unlocks basic Planetologist skills.

Quest #2: Buried Archives

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Imperial Testing Station 197 in Western Vermillius Gap. (Requires a Sandbike to reach).
• Objective: Once at the station, drop down into the large pit and speak with Derek at the bottom. Enter Imperial Testing Station 197, find the Minimic Film (often behind another bookshelf door), and return to Derek.

Quest #3: Adhering to Hierarchy

• Trainer: Derek Chinara (via Cyprian Io)
• Location: Arrakeen (requires Ornithopter travel, either your own or via a 2500 Solari Thopter Taxi from any tradepost).
• Objective: In Arrakeen, go to the second floor of the Salusan Bull bar and find a nobleman named Cyprian Io. After talking to him, return to Derek's camp to tell him what happened.

Quest #4: Science Unlocked

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Imperial Testing Station 76 in Jabal Eifrit Al-janub (just north of Vermillius Gap).
• Objective: Derek will ask for some space after the Cyprian Io incident. Leave hiscamp and proceed to Imperial Testing Station 76. Explore the facility to find Derek in a cage near the first pentashield from the entrance. (Ifyou go down the spiral staircase, you've gone too far). Speak withDerek, and he'll ask for another set of Minimic Films and the keys tohis cage. The keys are on a table just past the spiral staircase. TheMinimic Film is behind another bookshelf door. (Note: If you can't pickup the cage keys, give Derek the Minimic Films first). Deliver bothitems to Derek, then meet him at his camp afterward.
• Tip: Don't forget to track your active quests; this will show objective locations on your compass.

Quest #5: The Search for Kynes

• Trainer: Derek Chinara (via Thufir Awat)
• Location: Sietch Tarl in the O'odham (just past Mysa Tarill).
• Objective: Talk to Derek at his camp, who will tell you to return to Arrakeen tofind Thufir Awat (located up the stairs from the marketplace). ThufirAwat will then direct you to Sietch Tarl. The entrance to Sietch Tarl is along a cliff wall, similar to the one in the Eighth Trial of Aql. Grab the note inside, then go back to Derek's camp.
• Travel Tip: If you have an Ornithopter, you can fly to the northern or western edge of the map to enter the World Map. From there, circle around HaggaBasin and re-enter from the south side to reload into Hagga Basin South, which can speed up travel.

Quest #6: A Reasonable Routine

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Imperial Testing Station 29 in the northern side of the Hagga Rift.
• Objective: Speak with Derek at the entrance to the facility. Find the Minimic Film inside (look for another bookshelf door to find the film set) and giveit back to Derek.
• Access Tip: The entrance to the testing station is at the bottom of the Rift. Youcan reach this by driving along the bottom level or by jumping down from a hole on the surface above.

Quest #7: Clues From The Past

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Imperial Testing Station 71, also in the O'odham region.
• Objective: Derek will be by the facility's entrance and will ask you to find bothMinimic Films and Research Notes. The station is fairly small, makingitems relatively easy to find. The Minimic Film set is behind abookshelf door in the same room as the Identification Band for thepentashields. The Research Notes are in a bookshelf in a room next towhat looks like a ritual sacrifice site.
• Completion: Retrieve both items, give them to Derek, then return to his base camp.

Quest #8: The Planetologist Report

• Trainer: Derek Chinara (via Cyprian Io)
• Location: Arrakeen (to find Cyprian Io), then Derek's camp.
• Objective: Return to Derek's camp, who will then tell you to visit Arrakeen toonce again find Cyprian Io. Speak with him, then return to Derek's camp. Upon your arrival, Derek will be gone. You'll then be tasked witheliminating two sniper teams that have set up nearby.
• Completion: Get rid of the snipers, then read Derek's note on a nearby table.

Quest #9: The Final Piece

• Trainer: Derek Chinara
• Location: Imperial Testing Station 163 (northeast of Imperial Testing Station 71 from "Clues From The Past," in Mysa Tarill).
• Objective: This is the final facility. It's fairly small but packed with MaasKharet cultists. Their ranged troopers use poison bombs and darts, while melee fighters use Prana attacks to stagger you. Be prepared with goodgear, including at least a Mk3 shield and power pack. Kynes' recordingis a purple Solido Projection at the end of the testing station.
• Completion: Grab the recording and go back to Derek at the entrance to receive aUnique Stillsuit as a reward. Then, go back to his camp and finish allof his lessons to fully unlock the entire Planetologist skill tree.

Questline Summary (Chronological Flow):

Minimic Film Recovery: Find Derek Chinara at his camp north of Imperial Testing Station 02(Hagga Basin South). Retrieve Minimic Film from Station 02. Hand film to Derek.

Buried Archives: Find Derek in Imperial Testing Station 197 (Western Vermillius Gap).Retrieve Minimic Film from Station 197. Meet Derek back at his HaggaBasin South camp.

Adhering to Hierarchy: Go to Arrakeen, find Cyprian Io on the second floor of the Salusan Bull. Return to Derek's camp and report.

Science Unlocked: Find Derek in Imperial Testing Station 76 (Jabal Eifrit Al-janub).Retrieve Minimic Film and cage keys from Station 76, give them to Derek. Speak with Derek back at his Hagga Basin South camp.

A Reasonable Routine: Find Derek in Imperial Testing Station 29 (northern part of the HaggaRift). Find the Minimic Film in Station 29, give it to Derek. Speak with Derek again in his base camp.

Clues From The Past: Look for Derek again in Imperial Testing Station 71 (past the O'odham). Retrieve Minimic Film and Research Notes, give them to Derek. Return to his base camp.

The Planetologist Report: Go back to Cyprian Io in Arrakeen. Return to Derek's camp. Get rid of the snipers and read Derek's note.

The Final Piece: Go to Imperial Testing Station 163 (Mysa Tarill). Find Kynes' recording in the station. Give the recording to Derek. Finish all of Derek'slessons at his camp to fully unlock the skill tree.
