This vital raw material is essential for crafting Iron Ingots, which in turn form the cornerstone for developing some of the most crucial and advanced tools in the game.This guide will walk you through the process of acquiring Iron Ore, transforming it into usable Ingots, and highlighting the powerful items you can forge to better survive the harsh realities of Arrakis.

Dune Awakening: Get Iron Ore

Iron Ore is predominantly found within the Vermilius Gap, the expansive area located just north of the initial tutorial zone, Hagga Basin.

• Primary Location: The Vermilius Gap is your go-to zone for Iron Ore. Similar to how Copper was found in the Hagga Basin, Iron Ore deposits are scattered throughout this region.
• Harvesting Method: To collect Iron Ore, you'll need to locate rock formations containing it, then scan them with a Cutteray and subsequently destroy the deposit to extract the ores.
• Cutteray Requirements: Crucially, ensure your Cutteray has the necessary cutting power to process Iron Ore. Not all Cutteray models can harvest this material. Compatible models include:
  • Cutteray Mk1
  • Sim’s Cutteray
  • Olef’s Quickcutter
• Efficient Scanning and Mapping: Upon arriving at the Vermilius Gap, consider using your Launcher to quickly scan the map. This will help you uncover and unlock areas of interest. Once scanned, you can open your map and zoom in to precisely identify every resource location, including abundant Iron Ore deposits.
• Alternative Sources: Beyond direct mining, you can also scavenge for Iron Ore:
  • Check Scavenger's Camps.
  • Explore Outposts.
  • Loot chests found in these locations.
  • Sometimes, even enemies' bodies can yield a small amount of Iron.

Where To Use Iron Ore in Dune: Awakening

Raw Iron Ore must be processed into Iron Ingots before it can be used in crafting. This transformation occurs at an Ore Refinery.

• Refining Iron Ore: Iron Ore is converted into Iron Ingots using an Ore Refinery. As you progress through the main quests, you will eventually unlock the Small Ore Refinery after researching it.
• Refinery Setup: Once unlocked, place the Small Ore Refinery at your base. To produce Iron Ingots, you'll need to input Iron Ore and Water into the refinery.
