This rare component, derived from the very teeth of a sandworm, is essential for crafting an Unfixed Crysknife, an item deeply rooted in the lore of the Dune universe.Unlike other materials, obtaining a Worm Tooth is an act of sacrifice, involving a direct encounter with Arrakis' most formidable predator. This guide will detail the only way to acquire a Worm Tooth, the necessary precautions, and how to use it to craft an Unfixed Crysknife.

Dune Awakening: How to Get a Worm Tooth

The method for acquiring a Worm Tooth is as brutal as the sandworms themselves:

• Death by Sandworm: The only way to obtain a Worm Tooth is to die in the jaws of a Sandworm. Every time a player is consumed by a sandworm in the desert, all items currently in their backpack and any nearby vehicles are completely destroyed.
• Post-Death Reward: After you revive, the only item that will remain in your inventory is a single Worm Tooth.

Crucial Precautions Before Baiting a Sandworm:

Given the consequences of a sandworm encounter, preparation is key to minimize losses:

• Empty Your Inventory: It is highly recommended that players store all their vehicles and items in their base before venturing out to bait a sandworm. Since all items are permanently lost upon death by a sandworm, it is best to have nothing in your inventory or close to your character.
• Attracting a Sandworm: The best places to quickly attract a sandworm are the Drum sand fields in the Vermillius Gap (red sand). These areas emit stronger vibrations and generate more sound, which are known to draw sandworms more effectively.

Important Note on First Death and the Guide:

• First Death Opportunity: The very first time you die to a sandworm, you will be given an option to speak to the "Guide" upon respawn.
• Free Sandbike (at a cost): The Guide will offer you a free Sandbike. However, if you choose to accept this option, you will NOT receive a Worm Tooth from that death. This choice is usually presented early in the game to help new players with mobility after a daunting first encounter.

Worm Tooth Limitations:

• One at a Time: Players can only possess one Worm Tooth at a time. It is impossible to farm this item by repeatedly dying to sandworms while already holding one.
• Bound Item: The Worm Tooth is a bound item, similar to quest items. This means it cannot be deposited into storage containers or dropped on the ground to save it.
• Replacement, Not Addition: If a player already has a Worm Tooth in their inventory and subsequently dies to another sandworm, the existing Worm Tooth will be destroyed, and it will simply be replaced with a new one, ensuring you only ever have one.
• Destroying the Worm Tooth: Fortunately, if you wish to free up the backpack inventory slot, a Worm Tooth can be destroyed by using the drop key.

How to Craft an Unfixed Crysknife in Dune: Awakening

Once you have acquired a Worm Tooth, you can proceed to craft the Unfixed Crysknife.

• Recipe Unlock: The recipe for the Unfixed Crysknife is automatically unlocked after completing the Fourth Trial of Aql.
• Crafting Requirements: The recipe calls for two specific ingredients:
  • 1x Worm Tooth
  • 1x Plant Fiber

Unfixed Crysknife Limitations:

• Bound Item: Once fabricated, the Unfixed Crysknife will also be bound to your inventory, just like the Worm Tooth. This means you cannot possess more than one of these at any given time.
• Limited Combat Utility: Currently, the Unfixed Crysknife is useless in actual combat, as it breaks with only one swing.
• Future Potential: There is speculation that a special quest or lore unlock related to the Unfixed Crysknife may become available in a future update, but as ofnow, there is no such function or purpose for it beyond its initialcrafting.
