The Monster Arena is one of the most unique features in the Dragon Quest 3 Remake. Taking its cue from the later games of the Dragon Quest series, the Monster Arena offers the ability to referee fights between monster teams. Some of the monsters you'll find in the universe make up the first team, and you will have partial control over them. The second squad is controlled by the game itself. Here's a step-by-step guide on capturing creatures for the arena in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
There are a big amount of places to explore in Dragon Quest 3 Remake's world, and the majority of these hold secrets that are just there for the finding. If desired, you can recruit friendly creatures you find while exploring these areas to fight in the Monster Arena.
Early in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you will encounter Monty, an NPC to whom you'll be handing over your captured monsters. This is just immediately after you enter the Shrine of Promise via the portal. He'll explain the basics of monster capturing and recruiting. The first Monster Arena can be found in Romaria, and it's going to be some time before you finally get there. One more awaits you later on in Ibis, which is south of the Pyramid dungeon. We will describe how to play Monster Arena in another guide.
While these monsters will at times appear openly, most often they will be hidden. At times, they will appear only under certain conditions. The best way to learn which kinds of monsters you can rescue in a given area is to speak with the NPCs present there.
The NPC towns will have seen the creature around the area. The Reeve Tavern contains a non-playable character who will say they saw a monster outside of
View from the east. Since they can only view it at sunset they assume that is what it must be there for. It tells you where the monster is and what time of day it is there.
This will allow you to exploit Dragon Quest 3 Remake's time-bending feature. You can change the time of day by doing so.
You'll be able to get the ability "Animal Instinct" once your Monster Wrangler profession reaches Level 10. It won't tell you the exact position of a catchable monster, but it will alert you to the presence of one.
While the majority of the monsters will join you without hesitation, there are some timid monsters that require you to meet certain conditions in order to recruit them.
Sometimes, these monsters cower behind crates or hide behind bushes; the moment you approach, they will scamper away. Before recruiting these monsters, you must have certain occupations in your party.
The smartest move for monster recruitment throughout the game is to recruit a Monster Wrangler into your party at the very beginning of the game. They can save any monster in danger, and they will be even more useful as your roster of monsters expands. Taking the wrangler path would be the best way if you want to skip any trouble with saving monsters because their talents get better as you save more and more.
In the remake of Dragon Quest 3, even beasts who are afraid can be saved by the Thief. For that reason, among many other helpful ones, the Thief vocation is very recommended to be included in your starting party or at any time in the future.
If you don't want to have to fully work around this problem, go visit Patty's Party Planning Place in Aliahan and train a level 1 Thief or Monster Wrangler to put saved monsters in. At any time, unless you really need one in your party, you should leave them at Patty's.
Hiring a Thief or beast Wrangler will allow you to capture any creature that the hero cannot. Return to the Monster Arena and speak with Monty to see all of the monsters you have captured.
In this sense, knowing How to Catch and Recruit Monsters in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, allows you to get other interesting elements in the game.
