While the game was released several years ago, many are thinking of replaying Dragon Age Origins ahead of the October 31, 2024, launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Here's a list of all spell combos in Dragon Age Origins if you're replaying it in anticipation of the upcoming release.

All spell combos in Dragon Age Origins

Magic in the world of Dragon Age has always been a part of its lore, and using spell combos help your team to make sure that they strike not just harder but also in rapid succession during combat. Spelling combos are listed for every possible one in Dragon Age Origins. A combination of spells is created when many spells have been cast on the same target.

There are ten unique spell combinations known to the players of Dragon Age Origins. Every time one of these is discovered, a new entry is made in the player's in-game Codex.

Improved Spell Combinations

Aggressive Combinations

Spell Might + Animate Dead:

Effect: Summons a skeleton minion 90% the level of the caster. This powerful undead companion can be handy in battle to confuse enemies and strike them.

Death Hex + Death Cloud:

Effect: Whenever a target under the effect of Death Hex enters the area of Death Cloud, they take Entropic Death, taking 200 + 2x Specialization Points in spirit damage. This combination very potent against low health or high spirit vulnerable enemies.
Effect: Combines Grease and any Fire Spell. Targets in the area take 30 fire damage every 1.5 seconds for 20 seconds. Grease Fire has multiple applications for crowd control, area of effect damage against multiple targets, or even a trap.

Improved Drain:

The Effect: Vulnerability Hex + Drain Life/Mana Drain increases damage/mana drain by 100%/50%. Such a deadly combination translates into this spell being able to take much more life or mana from a target, which turns it into a very useful tool in both offense and defense.
Nightmare:
Effect: Sleep and Horror combine into one. Deals spirit damage, negates Sleep, then applies Horror. Nightmare can be an infamous spell that rips away the enemies' ability to attack and deals continuous psychological damage, hence serving as a strong weapon against the most powerful of foes.

Paralysis Explosion:

Effect: Glyph of Paralysis + Glyph of Repulsion. Paralyzes targets in a 7.5m radius for 20 sec x target's rank. This spell is an extremely powerful area-of-effect that can lock down multiple foes into a helpless state, especially with the skill applied to crowd control and burst damage.
Shattering
Effect: Petrify/Cone of Cold/Hand of Winter + Critical Hit/Stonefist/Crushing Prison. Instant kills targets (does not include Lieutenants and above). Shattering is a potent and dangerous spell which can eliminate a target right away. It functions only on those that rank lower than a Lieutenant.

Shockwave

Effect: Crumbling Prison + Force Field. Inflicts physical damage and knocks down targets except the primary target nearby. Shockwave can serve as a versatile spell that disrupts enemies, deals damage to them, and opens them up to other attacks.

Storm of the Century:

Effect: Spell Might+Blizzard+Tempest. Siphons caster for an additional 100 mana and inflicts electricity damage every two seconds. It also drains the stamina of the caster. The Storm of the Century is a very powerful and expensive spell, though it can inflict great amounts of electricity damage overtime, which the resources of the caster should be carefully managed.

Defensive Combination

Flame Quencher:

Effect: Extinguishes a Grease Fire. Flame Quencher is a very useful spell because stopping the Grease Fires will not only save your friendly units from damage but also disturb your enemy's plans.
