Among these hidden challenges is an encounter with the enigmatic Toby Dog, offering a unique and whimsical mini-game.This guide will provide a complete walkthrough on how to find the Toby Dog, how to "beat" him in his peculiar challenge, and the rewards you can reap from this encounter in Deltarune Chapter 4.

How To Find the Toby Dog Secret Boss

Locating the Toby Dog requires a bit of backtracking to a familiar area.

Head to Gerson's Study Room: You'll need to backtrack to the old man Gerson’s study room in the Dark World. Ensure you do this before you engage in the final fight of the chapter.

Navigate to Dark Doors: Once in the study room, go through the right staircase. You will find two dark doors.

Enter the First Dark Door: Go through the first dark door on the right side.

Find the Pillars: Inside, you'll discover two climbable pillars. You'll also notice a treasure chest positioned at the top of these pillars.

Trigger Toby Dog: Stand briefly at the foot of the first pillar. After a moment, the Toby Dog will appear and take its position at the foot of the second pillar, signaling the start of the challenge.

How To "Beat" the Toby Dog Secret Boss

The encounter with Toby Dog isn't a traditional combat boss fight; instead, it's a race to the top of the pillar.

Climbing Ability Required: To participate in this challenge, you must have unlocked the climbing ability first.

The Race: Once Toby Dog appears, a race to the top of the pillar will commence.

Avoid Obstacles for Speed: As you climb, you'll need to avoid white floating obstacles. Successfully dodging these obstacles will allow your character to speed up much faster than the dog.

Toby Dog Always Wins: Regardless of how fast you climb or how many obstacles you avoid, TobyDog has a trick up his sleeve: he will always conjure a ladder and climb to the top before you. Don't worry, even if you "lose" the race, you will still receive rewards.

Rewards For "Beating" (or Participating Against) Toby Dog Secret Boss

Regardless of whether you technically "win" or "lose" the race against Toby Dog, you are guaranteed to receive rewards.

Dog Dollar: Upon finishing the race, you will receive the Dog Dollar. This item is depicted as a regular dollar bill adorned with a dog’s face. Currently, the Dog Dollar has no specific uses in the game and simply remains as an item in your inventory.

• Note: Its sell value decreases with every passing chapter, so if you plan to sell it, doing so sooner rather than later is advisable.

Treasure Chest: Since Toby Dog always finishes first, he will reach the top of the pillars before you. However, he will ignore the treasure chest and instead go for a bone. This allows you to simply climb up after him and open the treasure chest to claim its contents, adding another reward to your inventory.
