Welcome to our guide on How to Beat the Dreadnought Twins in Deep Rock Galactic Survivor specifically.
The Dreadnought Twins are back to haunt the depths of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor as some of the toughest challenges standing between a miner and his valuable minerals. These enormous foes are corrupted versions of the regular Dreadnought, though the difference here is that they are much deadlier. While the combined pool of 9,500 health might seem drastically low, it is their ultra-aggressive and coordinated attacks coupled with the ability to heal each other that will pack a punch. Unlike their less complex brethren, the Twins exhibit unpredictable movement patterns and devastating attacks that can blow the unprepared crew to smithereens in mere seconds. This battle, regardless of class or experience, requires absolute focus, teamwork, and strategy.
Deep Rock Galactic Survivor: How to Beat the Dreadnought Twins
The Dreadnought Twins are one of the powerful final bosses that may spawn in the Stage 5 or Stage 10 dive climax. It's a pair of two small Dreadnoughts: the red Arbalest and the blue Lacerator, joined at the hip and sharing a fate. While they both have their health bars, it's very risky to try and defeat one quickly while just ignoring the other. The twins will heal each other, so you're going to need to balance your attacks to a certain degree. If you allow the fight to go on for too long, then both will eventually regenerate back to full health. Knowing their attacks and skills in DRG: Survivor is critical.
Dreadnought Twins
The Lacerator is an inexorable melee fighter, relentlessly pursuing the player across the stage. Its aggressive nature and the ability to quickly close distances make it quite dangerous. To add to this danger, it is capable of performing a charge attack much like a normal Dreadnought, which is an extremely powerful attack that will inflict a large amount of damage to any players within the area of effect.
In sharp contrast, the Arbalest is going to want to hang back a bit and pepper players with waves of fireballs. With every wave comes the potential for multiples of the projectiles, making it necessary for players to be on their toes at all times. While less aggressive than its counterpart, the ranged attacks of the Arbalest are just as dangerous if players are not dodging well enough.
It's when these two powerful enemies come together to create the Dreadnought Twins that things get very challenging, especially on higher hazard levels. Both Dreadnoughts move faster, hit harder, and fire special attacks more frequently. The Lacerator becomes far more aggressive, capable of chaining multiple charge attacks together in quick succession. The Arbalest's damage potential also increases as it fires faster, longer-traveling fireballs that become deadly.
But maybe their most insidious ability is how they are capable of healing each other. When a large enough health disparity opens up between them, the Dreadnought Twins go into a regenerative state where they become invulnerable to all damage while they transfer health between themselves to equalize the health bars. This mechanic can be especially frustrating because the rate at which this healing occurs depends on the health difference. What's worse, the healthy Twin passes on a large portion of its health when it is at maximum—as much as 10%—which effectively gives a large health boost to the wounded Twin by 20% of the maximum health. It is through this strong healing synergy that Dreadnought Twins become one of the most challenging encounters where players must coordinate efforts and focus on damage output so as to avoid recovering the twins.
Dreadnought Twins
- Taking out the Dreadnought Twins in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor requires a lot of strategy and coordination. This general damage balance, although good in theory, usually gets thrown out the window when the Lacerator relentlessly pursues someone. In these situations, players will have to improvise.
- Focused Damage with Balanced Aggression: Two major ways can be used here. If there are just elites everywhere in the landscape, it would be better to focus first on the Lacerator just to make some space. Later on, when there is a big health difference between the twins, all damage must be focused on the Arbalest. Experienced players might want to move between both twins and deal damage to them simultaneously, which requires tricky movements and timing.
- Environmental Preparation: A remade environment is necessary before the Twins' arrival. Any investment in mining and damage upgrades will empty the zone of any impediments and, to a large extent, elite threats. This kind of space offers a better scope to move around, thus allowing players to execute their strategies efficiently.
- Time is of the Essence: The Dreadnought Twins is a race against time. In this encounter, the number of elites is increased, thereby even further limiting the movement of players and making it progressively more challenging. This can be done only with the optimal loadout—a weapon and overclocks that kill the Twins quickly. Players also have to cooperate by communicating and coordinating their efforts in attacks to achieve maximum damage.
