However, to combat this and safeguard your deliveries, Backpack Covers become an indispensable accessory. These covers encase the cargo on your back, their material shielding the contents from the corrosive, aging effects of the Timefall.If you're still navigating the challenges of Timefall without a Backpack Cover, here's how to unlock them in Death Stranding 2.

How To Unlock Backpack Covers in Death Stranding 2

To acquire Backpack Covers in Death Stranding 2, you'll need to progress through the game's main story until you reach Episode 8. Once in Episode 8, head to the F5 East Distribution Center.

At this location, you'll need to interact with and talk to the Fisherman. The Fisherman will then assign you Sub-Order 116: Deliver All Stranded Ship's Cargo to the Fisherman. Completing this sub-order is crucial, as it will connect the Fisherman to the Chiral Network.

Once the Fisherman is successfully connected to the Chiral Network, your next step is to raise his Connection Level to Level 2. Upon reaching this connection level, you will be rewarded with the Level 1 Backpack Cover.

Should you desire the more effective superior Level 2 Backpack Cover, you will need to continue raising the Fisherman's Connection Level further, all the way up to Level 4. This typically involves completing more standard orders for him or delivering his lost cargo found around the Tar Lake area.
