How To Reach the F3 Crater in Death Stranding 2

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the expansive landscape of Australia offers numerous optional facilities to connect to the Chiral Network, each providing valuable benefits. One specific location, the F3 Crater, is tied to a trophy called "The Scars Left by the Giants," making it a point of interest for completionists and curious explorers alike.Here's how to reach the F3 Crater and claim your trophy:

Death Stranding 2: How To Reach the F3 Crater

There are two primary methods to reach the F3 Crater: an early-game approach using a unique vehicle, and a later-game method tied to story progression.

Method 1: Early Access with the Coffin Board

This method allows you to visit the F3 Crater relatively early in the game, soon after you've established more connections to the Chiral Network.

Progress to Order 29: You must advance through the main story until you complete Order 29: Recover the Coffin From Armed Survivalists Base.3 This mission connects The Mechanic to the Chiral Network.

Unlock the Coffin Board: Upon completing Order 29 and connecting The Mechanic, you will be rewarded with the fabrication blueprint for the Coffin Board. This unique vehicle floats above the ground, allowing for traversal over difficult terrain.

• Important Note: The Coffin Board only functions within areas connected to the Chiral Network. Since you would have already connected Heartman's Lab (which is nearby) by this point, reaching the F3 Crater should not be an issue.

Fabricate the Coffin Board: Head to Heartman's Lab or any other facility within the Chiral Network. You can fabricate a Coffin Board at a delivery terminal. It requires the following materials:

• 260 Metals
• 200 Ceramics
• 30 Chemicals

Travel to the F3 Crater: Once you have your Coffin Board, ride it north towards the giant crater in the middle of the tar lake. The F3 Crater is a prominent landmark on the map.

• Tar Lake Navigation: No other vehicle is well-suited for traversing the treacherous tar lake surrounding the crater, making the Coffin Board the ideal choice for flying across.

Trigger the Trophy: As you approach the BT nexus within the F3 Crater, your Odradek will alert you to the presence of BTs, and the "The Scars Left by the Giants" trophy will pop. You are then free to leave.

• Optional Exploration: If you're feeling adventurous, you can investigate the small island in the middle of the crater. However, be prepared for encounters with BTs. Fighting these BTs without proper gear can be challenging. It's advisable to bring weapons and tools that can be fabricated at the DHV Magellan or Heartman's Lab (the nearest facility) if you plan to engage.

Method 2: Later Game with Sub Order 121

An alternative, more passive way to get the trophy is to progress further into the story and specific side content.

Unlock The Adventurer Prepper: Continue playing the story until you unlock The Adventurer prepper and raise their connection level to Level 5.

Complete Sub Order 121: After maxing out your connection with The Adventurer, completing theirfinal Sub Order (Sub Order 121) will involve a mission that transports you directly to the F3 Crater. This will also trigger the "The Scars Left by the Giants" trophy automatically.

• Efficiency Consideration: While this method eventually grants the trophy, maxing out all 42facilities in the game (which is required for the "Connecting Hearts and Minds" trophy) is a very lengthy grind. The Adventurer may beone of the last facilities you fully connect, meaning this method forthe F3 Crater trophy could occur very late in your platinum trophyjourney.

Both methods are effective for obtaining "The Scars Left by the Giants"trophy. The Coffin Board method allows for an earlier visit if you'reeager to see the crater, while the Sub Order method might be aconvenient, albeit later, unlock for players aiming for full completion.
