Among the various new useful tools and devices introduced, the EX Capture Grenade stands out. As you progress through Australia, you will gain access to this unique grenade, which, despite appearing conventional, possesses a truly extraordinary effect.The EX Capture Grenade allows Sam to capture and subsequently summon Large BTs (Catchers), effectively transforming a formidable enemy into a valuable ally. This is a notable gameplay improvement, offering players an overpowered piece of equipment. How To Obtain EX Capture Grenade in Death Stranding 2

The EX Capture Grenade becomes available to you as you traverse Australia and progress through the main story. Specifically, you will unlock the weapon data for the EX Capture Grenade once you complete Order No. 33: Deliver Timefall Resistant Emu to the Metagenomist and successfully connect the Metagenomist's Prepper station to the Chiral Network.The Metagenomist base is geographically located north of the Northern Environmental Observatory and south of the F5 East Distribution Center. Once you have successfully unlocked the data, you can then fabricate an EX Capture Grenade at any fabrication terminal using the following resources:

• 120x Chiral Crystals
• 30x Resin
• 25x Special Alloy

Since an EX Capture Grenade is a throwable item, you can conveniently store it inside your Grenade Pouch backpack attachment for more efficient cargo management.

How To Use EX Capture Grenade in Death Stranding 2

The EX Capture Grenade is a special throwable item that creates a unique effect, specifically crystallizing large BTs (Catchers), allowing you to capture and summon them. You can only use these grenades within a BT zone and exclusively against Catchers.

To effectively use them, you first need to get dragged into the Tar by smaller BTs, which triggers the appearance of a Catcher.

Once you encounter a Large BT (Catcher):

You need to reduce its HP until its health bar turns red, indicating it's significantly weakened.

Once sufficiently weakened, aim and throw the EX Capture Grenade directly at its mouth to confirm a successful capture.

If you have successfully captured the BT, it will become crystallized and then dissipate, leaving behind a special white Chiral Crystal, also known as a BT Crystal.

Collecting this BT Crystal allows you to summon the captured Catcher to fight alongside you against other large BTs in future encounters. However, it's important to note that you cannot summon the same type of BT twice within the same battle. To summon a captured Catcher, navigate to the Special section from your equipment wheel, select the corresponding BT Crystal, and then press X to summon it. Be aware that summoning a BT consumes a certain amount of Chiral Crystals.
