How to get the Lamp in Colossal Cave - Ultimate Guide

Begin your journey in Colossal Cave by standing in front of the well-house. To get the lamp, enter the building. Move the cursor close to the door and right-click to cycle available actions, selecting the hand action. Left-click next to the door with the hand action to open it. Inside the well-house, the lamp is the first item to the left. Right-click to cycle through the actions, then left-click to pick up the lamp. Don't forget the water, food, and key in the room.

Once you have the lamp, you’ll need to light it. To do this, open the inventory by pressing “I” on the keyboard or the middle button of the mouse. From here, you can light the lamp by pressing the left mouse button and dragging it over the lamp icon.

With the lamp lit, you can now explore the depths of Colossal Cave. You’ll need to find the magic word “xyzzy” to open the Swiss cheese room, and then the Ming vase in the Twopit room. You’ll also need to find the empty bottle, the dirty broken passage, the golden eggs, the oriental room, the gold nugget diamonds, the debris room, the Hall of the Mountain King, the bottle of water, the fee fie foe foo, the golden chain, the black rod, the soft room, the rare spices, and the Mountain King. Along the way, you’ll also find diamonds and jewelry.
