Locating the Boss: The Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death

Your journey for the Hot Slugger begins not with a random enemy, but with a dedicated boss fight against the intimidatingly named Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death.
Prerequisite: You must first progress through the main story campaign until you gain the ability to leave the starting area of The Fadefields. Your destination is the eastern region known as the Terminus Range.
Finding the Bunker:

Navigate to the eastern mountains of the Terminus Range to find Craven's Nook, an Order bunker.

As you approach, the location will automatically mark on your in-game compass.

Let your Echo-4 device guide you through the surrounding cave network to the bunker's entrance.

Gaining Entry:

The bunker door is sealed with reinforced Order armor. To break in:

• Look to the left of the entrance for a bio canister dispenser on a cliff edge.
• Grab a canister and throw it directly at the door to melt the locks and gain access.

Conquering the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death

Inside the bunker, you'll fight through waves of Order synths. Work your waythrough the complex by grappling through vents and ascending elevatorshafts until you reach the boss arena.

The Callous Harbinger is a large, slow-moving target, but it makes up forits lack of speed with a devastating array of area-of-effect attacks.Its primary weaknesses are Shock, Corrosive, and Cryo elemental damage.

Boss Attack Patterns & Strategies:

• Slam Attack: The boss raises its glowing fists and slams the ground, creating a forward shockwave. Simply jump to avoid all damage.
• Charge Attack: It will lower its shield and charge directly at you. Use a dash move to quickly sidestep and retaliate.
• Missile Barrage: When its shield glows, immediately seek cover. It will unleash a volley of missiles in a straight line ahead.
• Diamond Bullet Hell: Its shield will float above its head, firing lasers and releasing aspread of diamond-shaped projectiles in all directions. Find cover until this attack subsides.
• Energy Streaks: In later phases, raising its fists will release radial energy waves.Look for the gaps between streaks and jump into one to avoid damage.
• Elemental Puddles: The boss will stand still and summon damaging elemental pools on theground (e.g., poison goo). Continuously move to avoid standing in them.
• Mounted Turret Mode: The shield transforms into a turret, and the boss will fire sustainedlasers. Strafe and circle the boss to easily avoid these beams.

Once defeated, the Callous Harbinger has a chance to drop the legendary HotSlugger shotgun. If it doesn't drop on your first try, don't worry. Youcan replay this boss fight infinitely using Moxxi's Big Encore feature at the end of the mission to farm for your prize.
