Guns have become a much more prominent feature in
Dying Light: The Beast, with Kyle Crane gaining access to firearms early in the game. However, a major challenge remains: ammunition is incredibly scarce.2 To keep your guns loaded and ready for the tougher infected, you'll need to know where to look. Here are the most reliable methods for finding ammo in
Dying Light: The Beast.
Dying Light The Beast: Get More Ammo
Looting Ammo From Military Convoys
Military Convoys are the most consistent and effective way to get a large amount of ammo. These are abandoned military vehicles, often found on roads, bridges, and tunnels, that are packed with valuable loot.
- Location and Types: Convoys are set at specific locations across the map. They come in two types: "Small" convoys, which have fewer enemies and less loot, and "Big" convoys, which are more heavily guarded but offer a greater chance of finding rare weapons and more ammo.
- Accessing the Loot: To open the military trucks, you need a Convoy Access Card. These are carried by military-uniformed infected that guard the convoy. You must defeat them and loot their bodies to get the card. Be prepared for a tough fight, as these areas often contain more challenging infected like Goons and Banshees.
- Respawning Loot: Once you've looted a convoy, the contents will respawn after a full day-night cycle, making them a great place to return to for a constant supply of ammo and other resources.
Taking Ammo From Human Enemies
Once you complete the main story mission "Power Gambit," human enemies armed with guns will begin to appear in the world, particularly in certain areas of Castor Woods.
- Looting Bodies: A number of these human enemies will be carrying firearms. When you defeat them, you can not only take their guns but also loot their bodies for a chance to get ammo. The ammo you find will correspond to the weapon they were carrying.
- Combat Strategy: Human enemies can be dangerous, especially with their firearms. A good strategy to deal with them is to use a dropkick to knock them offbalance, then follow up with a series of quick melee attacks. This is an excellent way to farm for ammo, particularly as you get into the finalmissions of the game.
Buying Ammo at the Shop
If you're in a pinch and need ammo immediately, you can purchase it from vendors at the game's two main hideouts.
- Purchasing: When you interact with a vendor, you'll see that they sell a variety of items, including ammo.
- Cost: Be warned that buying ammo with Old World Money is very expensive, and this method is best saved as a last resort.
Additionally, you may occasionally find small amounts of ammo in certain supplycrates, police vans, or as rewards for completing specific storymissions and side quests, but these methods are not reliable forconsistent resupply.
