For the week of September 21, 2025, the elusive beast known as Shadowpelt is the featured target. This guide provides a complete breakdown of how to find Shadowpelt, the most effective strategies to defeat it, and a detailed look at its unique legendary loot pool to help you decide if the fight is worth your Eridium.

Where to Find Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4


Shadowpelt makes its lair within Whistler's Maw, an abandoned auger mine located in the Cuspid Climb region of Terminus Range. Access to this area is gated behind story progression; you must first complete the main mission "Shadow of the Mountain" to acquire your Clave and unlock the path to Terminus Range.
Once there, navigating to the boss arena is a linear process. Follow the path through Whistler's Maw until you reach a section where you must remove a ventilation grate. Crawl through the opening to find a combat preparation area with ammo and health vending machines, as well as Moxxi's Encore terminal.

Moxxi's Big Encore: Is It Worth It?


At the terminal, you can choose to activate Moxxi's Big Encore for 100 Eridium. This significantly powers up Shadowpelt, increasing its health and damage output. The reward for taking on this greater challenge is a substantially improved chance at receiving legendary items from its loot pool. If you're hunting for specific gear, the Eridium investment is highly recommended.

Shadowpelt Boss Fight Strategy: Weaknesses and Tactics


Shadowpelt is a fast and aggressive opponent that requires a specific approach. Here’s how to beat it efficiently.


Elemental Weaknesses and Phases


  • The Cloaking Shield: The fight begins with Shadowpelt completely invisible. To break its cloak, you must first deplete its blue Shield bar. The most effective way to do this is with Shock-element weapons.
  • The Damage Window: Once the shield is broken, Shadowpelt becomes visible and vulnerable for approximately 15 seconds. This is your primary opportunity to deal damage. Its main health bar is Flesh (red), so switch immediately to Incendiary-element weapons to maximize your damage output.
  • Cycle Repeat: After the brief vulnerability window, Shadowpelt's shields will regenerate, and it will vanish again. You must repeat the process of breaking the shield with Shock damage to create new attack opportunities.



    • Recommended Loadout and Combat Tips


    • Weapons: Due to Shadowpelt's speed and tendency to lunge into melee range,high-DPS weapons like SMGs, shotguns, and assault rifles are ideal.Avoid slow-firing weapons like rocket launchers, as they are difficultto land.
    • Key Attacks to Avoid:

      • Shock Orbs: While cloaked, Shadowpelt will often leap into the air and release avolley of homing Shock orbs. Keep moving and use the environment forcover.
      • Tail Spikes: It will flick seeking projectiles from its tail. A well-timed dash or jetpack boost can help you evade them.
      • Slam Attacks: Use your jetpack to gain higher ground to avoid its powerful ground slams.
    • Survival: Prioritize shields and class mods that offer Damage Reduction or high capacity, as its attacks can be lethal, especially in the Big Encore version.

    Shadowpelt has three unique legendary items in its dedicated loot pool. While thedrop rate is subject to random chance, farming this boss is the only way to acquire these specific gears.
