The intrigue deepens in Borderlands 4 as Levaine, leader of the Electi, confides a grave suspicion: a traitor hides within their inner circle. The "A Traitor Within" faction mission tasks you with uncovering this mole while providing crucial aid to the Electi people. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough to efficiently complete every objective, including a detailed solution to the tricky Willem's Nodes puzzle.


Gathering Sustenance for the Electi


Your first duty is humanitarian. Levaine requests you gather food supplies—specifically, 4 Thresher Eggs and 3 Pangolin Spit. Head to the Ruined Sumplands in Carcadia to find both resources.
  • Thresher Eggs: Eliminate the local Thresher population. Each kill has a high chance of dropping an egg, making collection straightforward.
  • Pangolin Spit: Locate the Pangolin herd to the west of the Threshers. Slaying these creatures will yield the needed spit. Be warned: collecting the final piece triggers an Order ambush. Dispatch these troops before moving on.

Once the supplies are secured, deliver them to Moxxi's Bottoms Up in the same area. Interact with the bar, near the iconic tip jar, to complete this objective.


Investigating the Traitor's Hideout


With the Electi fed, the investigation begins. Travel to the Quisling's Cave Point of Interest in the north-west region of Tonnage Peel.
  • Clear the Entrance: Eliminate all the Rippers guarding the cave's entrance. Defeating the final enemy will drop the Bitter Plotter ECHO Log, a key piece of evidence.
  • Navigate the Caverns: Deeper inside, you'll meet Levaine, who provides aerial support via adrone. The path forward requires using this drone to grapple to higherplatforms. Keep your camera angled upward to spot the drone's position. The route involves a combination ofrunning jumps, double-jumps, and glides—follow the linear path until you reach Camp Spinesquelch.


    • Breaching the Bunker and Solving the Node Puzzle


    At Camp Spinesquelch, the traitor's bunker is protected by a powerful barrier.


  • Eliminate the Guards: A wave of Order troops, culminating in a heavily-armored Brute Electi, must be defeated to disable the barrier's security.
  • Access the Control Terminal: After the fight, use Levaine's drone on the north-east wall to grappleup to the control terminal. You'll find the crucial micro drive, butit's locked behind a security puzzle.


    • Willem's Nodes Puzzle Solution


    This puzzle requires precision shooting to align a series of energy nodes. Here’s how to solve it efficiently:


    • The Mechanics: Your goal is to shoot a red prism only after the blue prisms behind it are perfectly aligned. If yourshot is correct, the node will activate. If not, nothing willhappen—there's no penalty for missing.
    • The Key Indicator:Your crosshair is your guide. When it turns red, it means you are correctly aligned and can fire to activate the node.
    • Weapon Choice: Use accurate, single-shot weapons. Assault Rifles, SMGs, and Hand Cannons are ideal. Avoid shotguns, rocket launchers, or any weapon with a wide spread or explosive radius.
    • Final Node Location: The last node requires you to climb to a higher platform to the right of the console for a clear line of sight.


    After successfully activating all nodes, retrieve the micro drive from the console.


    Completing the Mission


    Return the micro drive to Levaine to conclude "A Traitor Within" and receiveyour reward. This mission is a critical step in the Electi story arc,setting the stage for the final confrontation with the Order and theirmysterious mole. With the evidence in hand, you can now return toCarcadia to progress further in your quest for the truth.
