Activating all four hidden Blue Flames in Blue Prince is one of the early secrets that players should prioritize discovering. Doing so will unlock a permanent shortcut to a new area containing the Chess puzzle. This guide will explain the location of each gas switch required to ignite the Blue Flames.

Blue Prince: How to Activate All Blue Flames

The Permanent Nature of Blue Flames:

It's important to note that once you activate a Blue Flame, it will remain lit permanently, even when you end the current day and start a new one. This makes the effort of finding and activating all four switches a worthwhile long-term investment.

Locations of the Gas Switches:

The four gas switches needed to activate the Blue Flames are all located outside the main Mt. Holly Manorbuilding. You will need to explore the surrounding areas to find them in the following locations:

Apple Orchard: (Thespecific instructions for finding the switch in the Apple Orchard arenot detailed in this excerpt. You will need to explore this area outside the manor near your starting camp.)

Gemstone Cavern:

• Location: Outside the manor, near your camp and the Apple Orchard, you will find a mechanical door that is initially inaccessible. The Gemstone Cavernlies behind this door.
• Accessing the Gemstone Cavern: To open the mechanical door, you need to interact with the Utility Closet. Inside the Utility Closet, you will see a series of buttons below the V.A.C. Indicator label. Press these buttons in the following order from left to right based on the color they display: off, blue, green, white, red, purple.
• The Lever: Successfully inputting this color sequence will cause the wall to lift, revealing a large lever. Pulling this lever will open the entrance to the Gemstone Cavern.
• The Switch: Once inside the Gemstone Cavern, the second switch to activate a Blue Flame will be immediately on your right.

The Hovel:

• Location: Follow the path outside the manor to reach the door that leads to the Outer Room. The Hovel is one of the rooms that can potentially be drafted withinthe Outer Room. If the Hovel is not available to draft on your currentattempt, you can try again on a future day.
• The Switch: Once you have drafted the Hovel, the third switch for a Blue Flame will be located on the wall next to the stove inside the room.

The Schoolhouse:

• Location: Similar to the Hovel, the Schoolhouse is another room that can be drafted within the Outer Room. If it's not available on your current attempt, try again on a future day.
• The Switch: Once the Schoolhouse is available and drafted, the fourth and final switch will be found on the heater located in the middle of the room.

Unlocking the Elevator and the Chess Puzzle:

Once you have successfully found and activated all four Blue Flames byinteracting with their respective gas switches, a new pathway willbecome available: an elevator.

• Permanent Elevator: Just like the activated Blue Flames themselves, this elevator is a permanent addition and does not reset when you start a new day.
• Access to a New Area: This elevator will take you down to a previously inaccessible new area, where you will be able to find and attempt the Chess puzzle.

Pro Tip: Unlocking the West Gate Early:

While you are exploring outside the manor to find the switches, the guide recommends taking the opportunity to approach the west gate and unlock it. Doing so will result in the west gate remaining unlocked permanently in all future days, allowing you to directly access the Outer Room without needing to find the Garage each time. This can save you valuable timeand steps in subsequent playthroughs.

By diligently searching for and activating all four gas switches in theApple Orchard, Gemstone Cavern, Hovel, and Schoolhouse, you will unlock a permanent elevator leading to the Chess puzzle, a significant earlysecret in Blue Prince.
