How to Fix Battlefield 6 secure boot error

Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, and players are getting their first taste of the action in the open beta this August. This new installment introduces a robust, system-level anti-cheat measure that requires players to have Secure Boot enabled on their PCs. If you've been trying to join the beta and received the error message "SecureBoot is not enabled," there's a straightforward process to fix it.This guide will walk you through the steps to enable Secure Boot, allowing you to get into the action.

Fix Battlefield 6 secure boot error

The error message indicates that your system's BIOS mode and partition style may not be configured correctly for Secure Boot. The process to fix this involves three main steps:

Checking your system information.

Converting your hard drive's partition style if necessary (from MBR to GPT).

Switching your BIOS mode to UEFI and enabling Secure Boot.

Step 1: Check Your System Information

First, you need to determine your current configuration.

Press the Windows key and type "system information" into the search bar.

Open the "System Information" application.

On the "System Summary" page, look for "BIOS Mode" and "Secure Boot State."

• If "BIOS Mode" is UEFI and "Secure Boot State" is On, you're all set.
• If "BIOS Mode" is UEFI but "Secure Boot State" is Off, you can skip directly to the "Enabling Secure Boot" section.
• If "BIOS Mode" is Legacy, you must convert your disk partition style and switch to UEFI.

Step 2: Switching to GPT Partition Style

If your BIOS is in Legacy mode, your disk likely uses a Master Boot Record (MBR) partition style, which is not compatible with Secure Boot. You'll need to convert it to GUID Partition Table (GPT).

Back up your data. While this process is generally safe, it's always recommended to back up any critical files before making changes to your disk.

Press Windows + X and select "Disk Management."

Right-click on your main system drive (usually Disk 0 or Disk 1) and select "Properties."

Go to the "Volumes" tab and check the "Partition style." If it's MBR, you need to convert it.

Close the window and press Windows + X again, this time selecting "Windows PowerShell (Admin)" or "Command Prompt (Admin)."

In the new window, type the following command to validate if the conversion is possible:mbr2gpt /validate /allowfullOS

If the validation is successful, you can proceed with the conversion by typing:mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullOS

After the conversion is complete, your drive is now ready for UEFI mode.

Step 3: Switching to UEFI and Enabling Secure Boot

Now that your disk is in GPT format, you can make the necessary changes in your BIOS.

Restart your computer. As soon as the screen goes black, repeatedly press the key to enteryour BIOS. The key varies by manufacturer (common keys include F2, F10,F12, or Del). If you don't know your key, search online for "[yourmotherboard model] BIOS key."

Once in the BIOS, navigate to the "Boot" menu or a similar tab.

Look for an option called "Compatibility Support Module (CSM)" or "Boot Mode."

Disable CSM and set the boot mode to UEFI.

Next, navigate to the "Security" tab.

Find the "Secure Boot" option. If it's disabled, you may need to set "Secure Boot Mode" to "Custom" first.

Click on "Install default Secure Boot keys" or a similar option to install the necessary keys.

Once the keys are installed, you should be able to enable Secure Boot.

Save and exit the BIOS. Your computer will now boot in UEFI mode with Secure Boot enabled.

After your system has rebooted, you should be able to launch Battlefield 6 without the Secure Boot error. If you encounter any issues, a quicksearch for your specific motherboard model and "Secure Boot" can provide more detailed, manufacturer-specific instructions.
