The 'Unexpected Initiatives' quest is a perfect example, sending players back into the hostile but resource-rich Buried City to track down seemingly mundane, yet crucial, items for the trader, Tian Wen.This guide provides a detailed, step-by-step walkthrough to ensure you find the required Fertilizer and Water Pump locations quickly and safely. ARC Raiders Walkthrough : Complete Unexpected Initiatives Quest

I. Quest Prerequisites and Preparation

Before 'Unexpected Initiatives' appears on your mission board, you must have successfully completed a couple of earlier key assignments.

Starting the Mission

• Prerequisites: This quest becomes available only after you have finished both 'Industrial Espionage' and 'Echoes of Victory Ridge.'
• Quest Giver: The mission is assigned by the trader Tian Wen.
• Destination: You will be dispatched back to the Buried City—a location rife with dangers but holding the items Tian Wen needs.

Gear Check

Given the Buried City's high enemy density,ensure your loadout is optimized for both combat and traversal. You will be spending time on high vantage points and rooftops, so mobility andawareness are key.

II. Locating the Fertilizer in Grandioso Apartments

The first item on your list—the Fertilizer—is hidden on the roof of a high-rise apartment block on the western side of the city.

Finding the Location: Head to the Grandioso Apartments on the west side of the Buried City. The exact location will be marked on your map once the quest is active.

Ascending the Structure:

• Locate and use the inner zipline within the apartment block to quickly reach the top floor.
• Once on the top floor, find the nearby staircase and climb it to step out onto the roof.

The Fertilizer Cache: The roof is characterized by makeshift rooftop gardens. Look specifically for orange planting pots. The required Fertilizer can be spotted and collected inside one of these pots.

III. Retrieving the Water Pump in Piazza Roma

The second item is located just a short distance away, atop a connectedrooftop structure, but requires keen eyesight to spot the specificmachine.

Finding Piazza Roma: Head to Piazza Roma, which is situated just northeast of the Grandioso Apartments.

Reaching the Rooftop: Piazza Roma is defined by two tall apartment blocks whose rooftops are connected. You have a few options for ascent:

• Use the zipline and stairs method, similar to the Grandioso Apartments.
• Look for the yellow ladder on the exterior of the upper building and climb it.

Identifying the Pump: Once on the rooftop, scan the outer edge where you’ll see the broken rooftop gardens. You are looking for a specific machine: the water pump is hooked up to one of the planters with two distinct hoses.

Collection: Interact with this water pump machine. This action guarantees you will receive the Water Pump item.

IV. Mission Completion and Rewards

With both the Fertilizer and the Water Pump secured, your next step is tosafely return to your base and hand over the items to Tian Wen.

• Secure the Items: Ensure both the Fertilizer and the Water Pump are safely in your character's inventory.
• Return to Speranza: Travel back to the central hub, Speranza.
• Hand-In: Speak with Tian Wen at her shop and complete the dialogue sequence to wrap up the mission.

Mission Rewards

Successfully completing 'Unexpected Initiatives' grants you a significant boost in both progression and firepower:

• Experience (EXP): A solid amount of experience points for leveling up.
• Weapon: The IL Toro Shotgun (Uncommon rarity). This is a powerful addition to your arsenal.
• Ammunition: 40 Shotgun Shells to immediately utilize your new weapon.
• Weapon Mod: Shotgun Choke II mod, allowing you to upgrade the IL Toro for improved performance.
