In the roguelite FPS Abyssus, players embark on an expedition through a series of distinct realms, starting with the Abandoned Temple. While this is the game's introductory area, it is home to a number of challenging enemies and a formidable final boss that must be defeated to advance to the next realm, the Gardens.The final boss of the Abandoned Temple is a giant stone golem with a considerable health bar and a three-phase moveset that tests a player's understanding of the game's core mechanics. For those struggling to overcome this colossus, this guide will provide a detailed breakdown of its attacks and offer crucial strategies to secure a victory.

Abandoned Temple Boss: Moveset Analysis

The battle against the stone golem is a fast-paced affair that requires constant movement and awareness. The boss's attacks evolve with each phase, adding complexity to the fight.

Phase One

In the first phase, the golem will employ a set of basic but dangerous moves:

• Flying Leap: The golem will leap high into the air, attempting to crush you uponlanding. You must use your dodge to swiftly move out of the way of itsshadow.
• Projectile Orb: The boss will fire a volley ofslow-moving orbs. These can be easily side-stepped with normal movementwhile you continue your attack.
• Shock Wave: The golemwill jump and send out a single electric shockwave that travels alongthe ground. You must jump over the wave as it approaches you to avoidtaking damage.

Phase Two

Afteryou have depleted one-third of the golem's health, it will float intothe air and become immune to damage, shielded by a barrier. To breakthis shield and continue the fight, you must locate and destroy aglowing crystal that rises from the floor. Once the crystal isshattered, the boss will move on to its second phase.

In thisphase, the golem's moveset is similar to the first, but with two keyadditions: it will now summon smaller grunts to harass you, and itsShock Wave attack will send out two waves instead of one. While thegrunts can be a nuisance, your primary focus should remain on the boss,as the grunts will die automatically once the golem is defeated.

The boss will repeat this shielding mechanic between phases two and three, requiring you to destroy another crystal to progress.

Phase Three

Once the golem's health is down to its final third, it enters its third andmost challenging phase. The core moveset from the previous phasesremains, but with two new and dangerous mechanics:

• Spin Charge: The golem will slide across the floor in a spin, charging at you up tothree times in a row. You must use your dodge ability to avoid thisattack.
• Floor Charges: Panels on the floor will begin toglow with energy. Stepping on these illuminated panels will causedamage, so you must constantly be aware of your footing and move off ofthem as soon as they light up.

In this final phase, the Shock Wave attack can also send out up to three waves, requiring a series of well-timed jumps to avoid.

Strategies to Defeat the Boss

Understanding the boss's moves is only half the battle. Here are some key tips andtricks to make the fight easier and ensure a successful expedition.

• Weapon Choice: In the early stages of the game, your best weapons for this fight are the Engine Rifle or the Brine Revolver. The Engine Rifle's high rate of fire allows you to consistently applydamage, while the Brine Revolver's high-damage, precision shots areperfect for hitting the boss's weak spot.
• Target the Weak Spot: The stone golem has a large, glowing weak spot located in the center of its chest. As much as possible, focus your fire on this area to dealmaximum damage and bring its health down quickly.
• Prioritize the Crystals: During the transitions between phases, the golem becomes completelyimmune to damage. The instant the crystal appears, shift your focus from the boss to the crystal. Destroy it as fast as you can, ignoring thegolem and any grunts it may have summoned. This is the only way to makethe boss vulnerable again.Maintain Constant Movement: The mostimportant rule in this fight is to never stand still. The golem'sattacks are fast and can easily punish a stationary target. Continuously moving, dodging, and jumping will be your most effective form ofdefense.
