How to Complete Echoes in the Shrine in Where Winds Meet

Embark on your Wuxia journey in Where Winds Meet and you'll quickly discover that its world is filled with hidden challenges and valuable secrets. One of the first and most rewarding exploration quests you'll encounter is Echoes in the Shrine, which grants access to a hidden dungeon and the powerful loot within. This guide will walk you through every step, from triggering the quest to claiming the General's Treasure.

Finding the Quest and Entering the Dungeon

Your path to the General's Shrine dungeon begins during the early main story quest in the Qinghe region.

Trigger the Quest: While following the main mission, you will eventually meet a character named Ruby near a dancing horse. After this interaction, seek out a man bowing reverently at the entrance to the General's Shrine itself. Speaking with him will officially begin the "Echoes in the Shrine" quest. Listen carefully to his dialogue about paying respects—it's a vital clue for later.

Locate the Hidden Entrance: Instead of going through the main shrine door, turn your attention to the left side of the entrance. You'll find a cracked and broken slab of rock. To shatter it, you must perform a Power Slam (jump into the air and press the designated slam key, such as 'Q' on PC). This action will reveal a hidden passage into the ruins below.

Navigating the Dungeon and Solving Puzzles

Once inside, your exploration and puzzle-solving skills will be put to the test.

• Gather Essential Supplies: Immediately upon descending, you'll find a room filled with military supplies. Be sure to loot the open chest to acquire Fire Arrows, which are absolutely essential for progressing. You'll need them to burn through obstacles.

• Create Your Path: Your first major obstacle will be a path blocked by overgrown vines.Equip your bow, select the Fire Arrows (often done by holding 'Alt' andscrolling the mouse wheel), and shoot the vines to burn them away.
• Light the Way and Clear Enemies: Proceed down the newly opened path, light any lamps you find for better visibility, and be prepared to defeat enemies lurking in the shadows.
• Utilize Environmental Hazards: You will soon come across a group of enemies standing near redexplosive jars. A single Fire Arrow shot at these jars will eliminatethe entire group efficiently—a classic Wuxia tactic!
• Lower the Hidden Bridge: After activating a checkpoint, you'll face a wide chasm. Look up at the dark ceiling to spot more overgrown vines tangled in a mechanism.Shooting this with a Fire Arrow will lower a wooden bridge, allowing you to cross. Navigate carefully to avoid a fall. At the end of the bridge, interact with the lever mechanism to open the door to the next area.

Boss Battle and Claiming the General's Treasure

The final chamber holds your greatest challenge and your ultimate reward.

Acquire a Key Ability: In the room after the bridge, defeat the enemies and investigate a corpse to obtain the Cloud Steps manual. This is a crucial Mystic Art that enhances your mobility, allowing for higher jumps and gap-crossing. Equip it immediately.

Prepare for the Boss Fight: Enter the large ceremonial hall. You can thin out the enemy numbers byusing your Fire Arrows on the explosive jars scattered among them. Apowerful enemy perched on a balcony will serve as the area's boss.

Defeat the Boss: The boss uses telegraphed attacks. Watch for its glow: dodge when it flashes red for unblockable power attacks, and parry when it flashes yellow to create an opening for a counter-attack. With careful timing, it is a manageable fight.

Solve the Final Statue Puzzle: After defeating the boss, be sure to loot the treasure chests on bothsides of the upper balconies. Then, approach the main General's Statue.Remember the man's clue about bowing? Interact with the praying mat onthe floor and pay your respects three times. The statue will magically shift, revealing the coveted General's Treasure Chest behind it.

Complete the Dungeon: To exit, proceed through the door behind the statue, follow thehallway, climb the ladder you find, and push open the final doors. Youwill receive a completion notification, marking a successful end to theEchoes in the Shrine quest.
