Before you can settle, you must explore. Your initial priority should be to construct a ship and send it sailing across the map. As you reveal the fog of war, you'll discover numerous uncharted islands, each with a unique mix of resources and potential. Look for islands that offer resources missing from your home territory to create a balanced and self-sufficient production chain.

How to Claim an Island in Sandbox Mode

The process of colonization is straightforward in Sandbox Mode, giving you the freedom to expand early and often.

Navigate to an Unclaimed Island: Direct one of your ships to sail close to the shore of any empty island you wish to settle.

Place a Trading Post: As your ship approaches, the game will automatically display a blueprint for a Trading Post. This building acts as the foundational core of your new colony.

Confirm and Build: Click on the blueprint to see the construction cost. Be aware that larger islands require a higher initial investment and incur a greater ongoing "Land Tax." If you have the necessary resources, simply confirm your choice to establish your new settlement.
