Where the Lost Quest Guide May Have Gone

The Traces of the Missing quest takes place in the public dungeon of Syleus' Abyss in Laslan's Carmine Forest district. Where to find Spectremancers and Spectral Shadowmancers in Throne and Liberty

This is the most confusing thing about this quest. Apart from most enemies, Spectermancers and Shadowmancers have special abilities. Their spawning depends on whether the portals in the dungeon are active or not. If an active gateway will be tagged with a red skull on your map. If you head to where those skulls are, you might find these enemies just hanging out. Bring all guns blazing because the second floor houses the higher level enemies.

Sometimes, the position of portals won't be reflected on the map. Therefore, it's better to go in a circle on the first two floors of the dungeon.

At first, the gateways will appear white. Once green, a Spectremancer will spawn into the area. Following that, they will color blue and a Shadowmancer will spawn. It is not clear what players need to do for the first change in portals. You can sit and wait or lure the mobs to the portal and kill them for it.
