Where To Find Minerals In The Alters (Act 1)

You will discover the Minerals Deposit early in Act 1, shortly after reaching a vantage point as part of the main story progression. Before venturing out, proper preparation is key:

• Timing: Aim to make your way to the deposit first thing in the in-game morning to maximize your available daylight hours.
• Equipment:
  • Bring at least two Vertara Drills. These are necessary to break through rock formations that will obstruct your path.
  • Ensure your suit is fully charged or has ample energy for a prolonged expedition.
  • Carry enough resources to place approximately four Pylons and have one Mining Outpost ready for deployment.
  • Confirm you have Drill Charges for breaking rock walls and a Climbing Hook to scale certain elevated spots.
• Navigation: Once prepared, head directly towards the marked location on your in-game map.

How to Mine the Minerals

The journey to the Minerals Deposit is fraught with environmental hazards that require careful navigation:

• Avoid Anomalies: The path to the deposit will feature numerous hostile Anomalies. It is paramount to avoid contact with them whenever possible.
• Radiation Risk: Coming into contact with Anomalies will cause you to take radiation damage. If your radiation level reaches its maximum, it can result in an immediate "game over" (ending your current run).
• Safe Passage: Take your time, move cautiously, and try to walk between or around the Anomalies to ensure your safety.
• Locate the Deposit Spot: Eventually, you will reach an area characterized by scorched ground with glowing yellow cracks, resembling magma. This distinctive landscape signifies the Minerals Deposit.
• Deploy Polygonal Scanner: Once at the deposit spot, pull out your Polygonal Scanner (by holding 'Q' or pressing '2') to pinpoint the optimal location foryour Mining Outpost. Use the scanner's triangular placement techniqueand vibration scan (hold 'F') to quickly identify the rich vein.
• Place Mining Outpost: After finding the precise spot, place your Mining Outpost.
• Connect to Base: Finally, connect the Mining Outpost back to your main base using the Pylons you brought. Ensure the green-colored power lines are established for the outpost to function and for fast travel.
