1. Fishing

Fishing is widely considered one of the best and most consistent ways to make money in the game. It’s also a straightforward activity that you'll unlock early on.

• How to Get a Fishing Rod: To get started, you'll need a fishing rod. You will receive this as part of the main story quest after meeting Old Noakes, the local fisher-hobbit. He will give you his rod and ask you to catch three fish, and once you complete the task, the rod is yours to keep.
• How to Fish: Equip your rod and look for ripples in the water, which indicate a fishing spot. Early in the game, you'll catch common fish, but as you level up your fishing club and upgrade your rod, you'll start reeling in rarer and more valuable fish that sell for a higher price.

2. Foraging and Selling Items

While not as lucrative as fishing, foraging is a great way to make some initial cash, especially at the start of your journey.

• Gather Wild Items: As you explore the Shire, you can find common items like Peaches and Basil. These can be sold for a quick and easy profit.
• Inventory Space: Your backpack is quite small at the beginning, so you won't be able to carry many items.4 To increase your inventory space, focus on leveling up the Foraging Club. You can find tasks for this club on the notice board in The Ivy Bush Inn,and completing them will expand your backpack, allowing you to carrymore goods and, in turn, sell more items.

3. Gardening

Gardening is a core mechanic of Tales of the Shire and is a good way to earn money while also providing ingredients for cooking.

• Getting Started: You will be introduced to gardening early on. To begin, you will need to buy seeds from Farmer Cotton, whose stall is located in The Village Square.
• Growing Crops: Plant your seeds and water them with your watering can. Once your crops are ready, you have a choice: you can either sell them formoney or use them in cooking to build relationships with othervillagers. It's often recommended to use the crops for meals, asbuilding friendships unlocks better rewards and items, while usingfishing to generate the coins needed to buy more seeds and othersupplies.
