How to Solve Shimizu Residence Scales Puzzle in Silent Hill f

In Silent Hill f, one of the more intricate challenges you'll encounter is the Scales Puzzle located within the Shimizu Residence. Solving this puzzle is a crucial step in the story, and it also rewards you with the Scales Plate, a key item needed for a later puzzle in the same area. The solution to this puzzle changes based on which of the game's endings you are pursuing.This guide will walk you through where to find the puzzle, how to solve it, and the specific doll combinations required for each of the different endings.

Finding the Scales Puzzle

The Scales Puzzle is located in a section of the house known as Shimizu Residence II. You'll find it tucked away in the upper-left part of the area. As you explore, look for a hallway near the sewing machine room. At the end of this hall, you will see a door that is slightly ajar. Enter through this door to find the room containing the puzzle.

How the Scales Puzzle Works

The puzzle consists of two platforms, each featuring a fox and arabbit statue. Your goal is to balance the two sets of scales by placing specific dolls on them. Once the scales are perfectly level, you canretrieve the lantern shades from the cages. You then need to place these shades on the lights in the room, which will grant you access to thekey.

The specific combination of dolls required to balance thescales depends on which ending you are on. Here are the solutions foreach of the four endings:

Ending 1 Solution

For the first ending, the solution is the simplest of the four.

• Place the Headless Doll on the left side of the scales.
• Place all other dolls on the right side of the scales.

Ending 2 Solution

For the second ending, the doll combination is slightly different.

• Place the Headless Doll and the Half Mask Doll on the left side of the scales.
• Place all remaining dolls on the right side of the scales.

Ending 3 Solution

The solution for the third ending requires you to identify a specific doll.

• Place the Hinako Doll in the blue shirt along with the Half Mask Doll on the left side of the scales.
• Place all other dolls on the right side of the scales.

Ending 4 Solution

Finally, for the fourth ending, the combination is as follows.

• Place only the Hinako Doll in the blue shirt on the left side of the scales.
• Place all the remaining dolls on the right side of the scales.
