Understanding Inventory Upgrades

At the beginning of your journey, Hinako has a modest eight inventory slots. Each of the six inventory upgrades you find will add one additional slot, bringing your total capacity to a generous fourteen. It's important to remember that weapons and Omamori charms do not take up inventory space, as they have their own dedicated tabs.Four of these upgrades can be found during your first playthrough, while the final two are exclusive to New Game Plus.

First Playthrough Inventory Upgrades

These four upgrades are available during your initial journey through Silent Hill f. Finding them will be crucial for managing your resources and preparing for challenging encounters.

1. Shoulder Bag

The first upgrade you can find is the Shoulder Bag, which becomes available during your second visit to the Ebisugaoka area after you complete the Shrine Path.

• Location: Ebisugaoka (Second Visit)
• How to Find It:
  • After the Shrine Path, you'll be placed in the middle of a street in Ebisugaoka.
  • Head east from the main street until you see an alley on your left, illuminated by a light bulb.
  • Take this alleyway and immediately turn left again to go down a path between two houses.
  • Follow this path until you reach a small open area with two enemies. It's best to deal with them before proceeding.
  • After defeating them, head towards the tree and turn left down a small alley. At the very end of this alley, you'll find the Shoulder Bag sitting on a wooden crate, increasing your inventory to nine slots.

2. School Bag

The second upgrade is tied to a puzzle in Ebisugaoka Middle School, and it's a bit of a trickier find.

• Location: Ebisugaoka Middle School
• How to Find It:
  • The School Bag is located inside a locked student locker.
  • The locker belongs to Suga Yosie.
  • The code for her locker is 505. Even if you don't find the in-game clue that reveals this code, you can enter it directly to unlock the locker.
  • Open the locker to claim the School Bag, which will increase your inventory to ten slots.

3. Dirty Drawstring Bag

This upgrade is found in the "spirit realm" during a particularly unsettling ritual sequence.

• Location: The Spirit Realm (Ritual Section)
• How to Find It:
  • After completing the second ritual, you will be placed in a hallway.
  • Look for a staircase in the southeastern section and go up it.
  • You will enter a large room with a couple of enemies and a crack in the floor.
  • You need to loop all the way around this room to get to a shelf near the entrance that you couldn't reach before.
  • The Dirty Drawstring Bag is resting on this shelf.

4. Furoshiki

The final inventory upgrade in your first playthrough can be found in alater chapter at Hinako's family home, the Shimizu Residence.

• Location: Shimizu Residence
• How to Find It:
  • The Shimizu Residence is a unique location that changes its layout based on a series of puzzles.
  • The Furoshiki can be found in the third version of the house, which the game's map refers to as "Shimizu Residence III."
  • Make your way to the west side of the house and follow the hallway until you reach the kitchen.
  • The Furoshiki will be located in the kitchen, typically tucked away in a corner or on a counter.

New Game Plus Inventory Upgrades

These last two upgrades are only accessible after you've completed the game once and started a new save file in New Game Plus.

5. Packing Tips

This is not a bag but a document that teaches Hinako to be more efficient with her space.

• Location: Ebisugaoka (New Game Plus)
• How to Find It:
  • In the very opening section of the game, after you descend the hill, you will find a house just past the first shrine.
  • Go inside this house and head upstairs. You will find a Balcony Key in one of the rooms.
  • Use the key to access the balcony, and then use the balcony to get to an adjacent room.
  • Inside a box in this new room, you will find Packing Tips.

6. Embroidered Drawstring Bag

The final inventory upgrade can be found in the Corridors, a location fromthe spirit realm that you visited in your first playthrough, but whichhas new secrets in New Game Plus.

• Location: The Corridors (New Game Plus)
• How to Find It:
  • You will need to have Hinako's Inari's Brooch from your first playthrough to access a new area.
  • Early in the Corridors, look for a small room off to the western side.
  • The door to this room is now open because Hinako still has the brooch.
  • Inside, on a shelf, you will find the Embroidered Drawstring Bag, completing your inventory and giving you a total of fourteen slots.
