After your path to the mountains is blocked, you—as Hinako—are tasked with navigating the school's decaying halls to find a way forward. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough to help you locate every essential item, solve the intricate puzzles, and survive the horrors within.

Gaining Your Bearings: The First Floor

Your first priority upon entering the school should be to find the map on the wall to chart the entire area. The main hallway is your central hub, but don't proceed blindly.
Essential First Steps:

• Save Point: Immediately head down the short hallway beside the stairs to find an exterior area with a Hokora shrine. Use this to save your game. You'll also find an Origami of Rumours and a Dried Carcass here.
• Initial Loot: Search the cubbies in the main hall for Yokan, then enter the Vice Principal's office. This room contains the locked key cabinet, a crucial objective for later. A note here reveals that the Second Floor Key has been lost.
• Supplies: In the nearby locker room, scavenge for a Bandage and a First Aid Kit. The classroom opposite holds Ramune and the "School Founder's Anecdote" note.

The Hunt for the Second Floor Key

The method for finding the Second Floor Key depends on your selected puzzle difficulty.

• Story Difficulty: A note in the classroom suggests using a hairpin to open the desk in the Vice Principal's office. Your journal will update, hinting that a character named Sakuko dropped a hairpin in the rabbit hutch in the schoolyard. Retrieve it from the hutch (located in the bottom-right of the yard) and return to unlock the desk for the key.
• Hard Difficulty: The solution is more cryptic. A poster notes the Vice Principal's love for gardening. Instead of the rabbit hutch, you must carefully search the entire length of the flowerbeds in the yard to find the dropped key, all while avoiding enemies.

Yard Exploration Rewards: While outside, thoroughly explore. The small shed in the bottom-left corner contains a Dried Carcass. Along the far-left side, you can find the powerful Sledgehammer, a vital heavy weapon. Also keep an eye out for Red Capsules and an Ema Plate.

Solving Rinko's Puzzle Box

With the Second Floor Key in hand, ascend the stairs. You'll be locked in the first classroom you enter, forcing you to solve a multi-stage puzzle box left on Rinko's desk.

Stage 1: Sweet and Tart Fruit

• Story: Manipulate the slides to reveal the Strawberry and the Cherries.
• Hard: The box is more complex. You must reveal six fruits: Apple, Cherries, Orange, Grapes, Strawberry, and Pineapple.

Stage 2: Journals

• Story & Hard: The goal is to match and reveal identical journals. On Hard, you'llneed to find three matching books on one side and a single journal onthe other.

Stage 3: Sakura In Full Bloom

• Story: Reveal the single Sakura branch.
• Hard: Locate and reveal all three Sakura branches (typically found on thebottom-right, middle-right, and bottom-right of the different sides).

Successfully opening the box rewards you with the Second Floor Classroom Generic Key, granting access to all rooms on that level.

Looting the Second Floor and Securing the Annex Key

Before moving on, explore the second floor. Key finds include:

• A Toolkit in the hallway.
• The Annex Key and a note in the first classroom, which reveals that a student named Asakura has the Key Cabinet Key in her locker.
• In the opposite room, find Arare and an Origami of Grievances that gives the locker code 377 for a student named TT.

A New Threat: After solving the puzzle box, motionless Scarecrow Students willappear. Some have Red Capsules at their feet, but approach with caution, as they can awaken.

Infiltrating the Annex and Cracking the Locker Codes

Return to the first floor and use the Annex Key to access the new wing, nowchoked with red kudzu. The Annex holds the final clues you need.

Annex Loot List:

• Left Classroom: Arare and a "Note Between Lovers."
• Central Classroom: Chocolate, an Origami of Grievances (hinting at Aoi's locker code), the Locker Room Key, Asakura's Textbook, and a Cryptic Note.
• Right Classroom: A Toolkit and another "Note Between Lovers."

Unlocking the Lockers and Your Escape

Return to the main locker room with the Locker Room Key. The ciphers and notes you've collected allow you to solve the final puzzles.

Aoi's Locker: The password is AOI, which converts to numbers as 401. Inside, a note hints that Suga's password is a "cry for help."

Suga's Locker: The cry for help is SOS, which is 505. Your reward is the School Bag, a permanent inventory upgrade.

TT's Locker: Use the code 377 found earlier to get the Omamori - Wolf.

Asakura's Locker: This is difficulty-dependent. The password is either 534 (Story/Easy) or 864 (Hard). This locker contains the prized Key Cabinet Key.

Take this final key back to the Vice Principal's office and unlock the cabinet to claim the Mountain Gate Key. You have survived the trials of Ebisugaoka Middle School and can now continue your harrowing journey toward the mountains.
