No, you cannot. Similar to Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill f has a single, predetermined ending for your first playthrough, which is "Coming Home to Roost." This is because a lot of the game's content, including quests for other endings, only becomes available on a New Game Plus file.To access the "Fox Wets Its Tail" ending, you must specifically load a completed save file after finishing your first run. This is different from simply starting a new game from the main menu and will ensure that all the New Game Plus content, including the quest for the Sacred Sword, is unlocked.

How to Get the Sacred Sword

Acquiring the Sacred Sword is a multi-step process that is central to unlockingthe "Fox Wets Its Tail" ending. The quest is based on an ancient legendabout a powerful sword hidden in Ebisugaoka over 1,000 years ago. To get the sword, you must find and make an offering to five different Jizostatues scattered throughout the game.

The locations of these Jizo statues and their corresponding offerings are:

Jizo Statue and Offering #1

• Jizo Statue: Found at the start of the game, down the hill from the main town. It is located near a red postbox and a locked wooden fence.
• Offering: The Faded Bride Doll. It is inside the house just up the hill from the statue. This house islocked in your first playthrough but becomes accessible in a New GamePlus run.

• Jizo Statue: Located on the way to Rinko's house. North of the rice fields, the road splits. Take the right path to a small enclosed area, where the statueis hidden in a small grove behind it.
• Offering: The Rusted Flask. This is found all the way up at the Sennensugi Shrine, on the otherpath of the split. It is resting on a stone structure outside theshrine.

• Jizo Statue: On the way to the Middle School, you'll find it in a small group ofhouses right before the school itself, in the south-east corner.
• Offering: The Broken Japanese Geta Sandals. These are found on the opposite side of the broken bridge in the samearea. Be careful not to enter the school, as you cannot return to thisarea later.

• Jizo Statue: Found on the way to Shu's house. After being chased by the Fog Monsterand getting to the Hokora, the statue is just north of there, next to awooden fence on the right.
• Offering: The Cracked Hibachi Brazier. Head to Shu's house and look on the side of the shed behind the building to find it.

• Jizo Statue: Located in a small village on the way back towards the main town of Ebisugaoka. The statue is found behind a house.
• Offering: Dad's Old Kitchen Knife. This knife is lodged in a tree directly east of the Jizo Statue's location.

After all five offerings have been given to their respective statues, you can return to the Great Cedar Tree to claim the Sacred Sword. Acquiring the Unpurified Sacred Sword is a key requirement for "The Fox Wets ItsTail" ending.

Avoiding the Red Capsules

Another critical requirement for this ending is that you must not use any RedCapsules during your New Game Plus run. While you can collect them, itis a good idea to avoid equipping them to prevent accidentally usingthem. This is an organic part of the story, as Hinako will eventuallyleave the capsules behind at Shu's house, satisfying the condition.

The Final Boss: Shichibi

Upon reaching the finale, if you have met all the conditions, the endingwill play out differently. After a confrontation between Hinako and FoxMask, a new boss will appear: the godly red fox, Shichibi.

Shichibi is not an overly difficult boss, but its size makes some weapons, likethe knife, ineffective. It's best to use the Sacred Sword and anymedium-sized weapons you have. Shichibi will also summon shadowyversions of enemies to attack you, but they are relatively weak and canoften be ignored if you want to focus on the main boss. Defeating allthe summoned enemies will unlock the "Fox Tamer" achievement.

After defeating Shichibi, you will unlock "The Fox Wets Its Tail" ending.
