How to Solve Moth Puzzle

Pre-Requisites:

Minute Hand: Before going to solve the Moth Puzzle, make sure to get the Minute Hand for the Grandfather Clock. Do this by taking a metal pipe - which you already have - to pry the toilet in Room 210 - it's got "H" on the door.

Finding the Moth Puzzle:

1. Grandfather Clock: Place the rescued Minute Hand in the Grandfather Clock. Rotate it so that it exactly points to "2." This action will unlock Room 202 with access to the Moth Puzzle.

Moth Puzzle Solution:

1. Observation of Moths: Upon entering Room 202, observe the various moth specimens mounted on the walls. Each moth has various symbols marked on its wings, usually crescent moons, circles, and skulls.

2. Count Symbols: Count how many of each symbol is present on all the moths depicted in the several frames around the room.

Note: A few of these moths can't be seen because they're behind a fake shelf. To get them, break the wall beside the door that is locked (on the left side).

3. Difficulty-specific Solutions: The combination to unlock the door varies with the difficulty setting selected:

Easy: Light Just sum the cumulative counts of all encountered symbols, crescents, circles, and skulls, to make the combination. Suppose at the end your counts were 5 crescents, 8 circles, and 2 skulls, the combination is 5-8-2.
Normal & Hard Difficulty: These difficulties have you solve math problems displayed beside the lock. Apply the symbol counts you pulled using these equations. What math function you do will depend on which difficulty is chosen.

Reward:

Second Hand Acquisition: Upon inputting the correct combination, a hidden room will appear with one hole in the wall. Inside that compartment is the hidden Second Hand, which forms part of the Grandfather Clock puzzle and thus will continue with the rest of the game.

Additional Considerations:

Math Help: If the math challenges are a bit over your head with Standard or Hard, take a picture of the lock or create detailed notes about how many of each symbol there are for easy lookup.
Online Tools: Online walkthroughs and resources will be able to give out exact solutions depending on what symbols were taken for your playthrough.
