What Are Lab Keys?

Lab Keys are the rarest collectibles in Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, with only a handful scattered across the game's expansive 14 levels. Unlike other secrets that are clearly marked, some of these keys are hidden in plain sight or are tied to completing challenging side objectives. This makes finding all of them a true test of a player’s exploration skills and mastery of the game’s combat.Collecting all six Lab Keys is the only way to unlock a secret, post-game boss battle that leads to one of the most prestigious rewards in the game.

Location of All Lab Keys

The following table provides a detailed breakdown of where to find each of the six Lab Keys. The keys are listed in the order you are most likely to encounter them throughout the main campaign.

Lab Key 1	Fish Market	From the Freight Checkpoint, navigate a tricky platforming section across moving crates. The key is tucked away in a small divot on the platforms at the end of this section.
Lab Key 2	The Mountain	This key is a reward for your combat prowess. You must defeat all three of the Elite Squads located throughout the level. Once the last squad is eliminated, the key will be automatically added to your inventory.
Lab Key 3	ENE Corp Laboratory	After defeating the level's main boss, proceed to the East Lab. Jump on the first moving elevator and move to the right to find a vent. Go through the vent and brave a deadly gauntlet of monsters and hostile plants to reach a chest with the Lab Key inside.
Lab Key 4	The Assault	Spawn at the Throne Room Checkpoint and begin moving to the left. You will soon come across a small gap that you can roll under. Once on the other side, head down and to the right, where a series of difficult platforming challenges will lead you to a chest containing the key.
Lab Key 5	Ruse’s Limbo	This key is a reward for your final victory. To obtain it, you must defeat the game’s final boss, the powerful Lord Ruse. The key will be granted to you automatically upon your successful completion of the campaign.
Lab Key 6	N/A	The final key requires you to complete the most extensive side quest in the game. First, you must find all 55 Oboro Relics scattered across every level. After collecting them, hand them over to the Shopkeeper to unlock his final tier of merchandise. The last Lab Key can then be purchased from him for 10,000 gold.

Unlocking the Secret Lab

Once you have finally collected all six of the Lab Keys, you must return to the ENE Corp Laboratory level. From the main level screen, select the Containment Room Checkpoint to spawn right outside the secret lab. A machine is located in the center of the room. Interact with it, and your character will slot in all six keys, unlocking the doors to a hidden area.

The Rewards: A Master's Test

Entering the newly unlocked secret room will immediately begin a boss battle with none other than Shadow Master, the iconic antagonist from Shinobi 3. He is by far the toughest and most challenging enemy in the entire game, and defeating him will require you to use every skill, weapon, and Ninpo ability you have mastered throughout the campaign.

If you are victorious, you will earn two exclusive rewards for your valiant efforts:

Golden Shinobi Costume: This unique outfit, with its striking gold color, is a visible sign of your dedication and skill. You can equip it at any time to show off your accomplishment.
Revenge of the Ninja Master Achievement: This achievement is a permanent testament to your mastery of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.
