In the challenging game PEAK, collecting badges not only grants you new cosmetic items but also truly tests your wilderness survival skills. This guide will explain how to earn the Mycology Badge.For this specific challenge, you'll need to consume various mushrooms, but be warned: some are poisonous. While they won't directly kill you, ingesting them will prevent you from completing the challenge if you count them towards your edible mushroom total. It's important to note that distinguishing poisonous mushrooms from edible ones can be difficult without knowing their specific characteristics.

How to Unlock the Mycology Badge

As its name suggests, the Mycology Badge is directly related to mushrooms. You'll find them abundantly in the game's first two areas: the Shore and the Tropics, with the Shore being an excellent place to start your search. To earn the Mycology Badge in PEAK, you need to eat 4 different non-poisonous mushrooms in a single expedition.Fortunately, if you accidentally consume one or two poisonous mushrooms during your attempt, it won't prevent you from ultimately earning the badge, as long as you still manage to find and eat four distinct types of edible mushrooms. Since finding the correct mushrooms can be time-consuming, we highly recommend attempting this challenge on "Tenderfoot" difficulty, as it removes the time limit, giving you more freedom to explore.Once you have successfully consumed 4 different non-poisonous mushrooms in PEAK, you will instantly receive the Mycology Badge. The reward for this achievement is a stylish Mushroom Hat.

How to Distinguish Mushrooms in PEAK

There are four main types of mushrooms in PEAK, each with a unique general appearance that makes them easy to identify. Additionally, hovering over them will display their names.However, the real difficulty lies in differentiating the edible variants from the poisonous ones for the same mushroom type. Three out of the four mushroom types have toxic versions that, at first glance, appear identical. But if you observe carefully, you'll notice subtle details that give them away.While you could, like a true ranger, personally test and examine each mushroom to learn the differences over time, the following table will save you a lot of effort:
