How To Survive All Biomes in PEAK

By Ambar Jimenez | 2025-06-30 08:32:21
In PEAK, players face five distinct biomes, four of which present full-fledged mountains or challenging terrains demanding ascent to reach the end. Each island, except for The Kiln, appears after you activate the campfire atop the preceding level. The Kiln, the true final biome, is uniquely accessed via a magma tunnel found near the end of the Caldera area.Every biome in PEAK boasts a different theme, introduces new hazards to avoid, and necessitates unique strategies for successful completion. This guide provides a brief overview of all PEAK levels and offers advice to help players survive and complete each one.

Begin Your Ascent In The Rocky First PEAK Level: Shores

  • Main Environmental Hazards: None
  • Other Hazards: Urchins, various sources of poison, breaking bridges.
After the loading screen, you'll awaken on the beach of the Shores biome, next to a plane wreckage. Loot the guaranteed luggage container, then proceed across the beach towards the first summit. Collect any luggage bags you find as you scout for an optimal climbing route.Generally, the Shores biome is relatively safe and easy to climb, even for solo players. However, keep an eye out for a few dangers:
  • Purple Sea Urchins: Avoid touching these spiky hazards found on the sand and the mountainside. Contact deals damage and inflicts Poison.
  • Poisonous Plants and Consumables: Watch for items marked with purple or bright green trim. Consuming these or prolonged proximity can inflict Poison.
  • Exploding Spores: Though rare here, these clusters explode on touch, dealing significant Poison damage and blasting you backward, potentially off the mountain.
  • Breaking Bridges: If you cross a bridge and hear a sudden loud creaking, quickly run to the nearest side and be ready to climb onto the wall to avoid falling.

Tropics: The Twisted, Lush, And Deadly Second PEAK Biome

  • Main Environmental Hazards: Rain
  • Other Hazards: Bees, urchins, thorned vines, exploding spores, various sources of poison.
Tropics represents the first significant hurdle in any run, thanks to diverse environmental hazards and a much higher peak. Beyond random rain showers that make exterior surfaces slippery and difficult to climb, you'll encounter more sources of poison, aggressive bees, and treacherous thorned vines. To navigate Tropics effectively, it's crucial to assess the island's layout and plan a safe route before entering the zone. The best vantage point for this assessment is from the Shores campfire. Communicate with teammates to identify safe paths up the Tropics peak, then follow these tips:
  • Recurring Hazards: Urchins, exploding spores, and poisonous environmental scenery from Shores also appear in Tropics. Continue to avoid contact.
  • Bee Hives: Look for bee hives on every tree. Getting too close will provoke a swarm that will relentlessly chase and damage you.
  • Rain and Wet Surfaces: Interior areas remain dry during rain. While short climbs on wet surfaces are possible, for anything longer, wait for the rain to pass.
  • Vines and Trees: Thick vines and climbable trees offer alternative paths. Be cautious on vines, as missteps can lead to long falls.

Alpine: Stay Warm As You Climb The Third PEAK Level

  • Main Environmental Hazards: Freezing wind (Blizzards)
  • Other Hazards: Ice crystal surfaces

Throughout the Alpine biome, players will primarily contend with the Frostbite status effect. The main hazard is the freezing blizzard that sweepsacross the level at regular intervals. While rain and most poisons areno longer concerns, the icy environment presents its own uniquechallenges.

To avoid freezing winds, seek shelter behind mountain terrain or crevices. Trees and other environmental objects will not block the wind. If you can successfully avoid being frozen by theblizzards, you should be able to navigate Alpine with fewer issues.

Follow these tips for efficient completion of the Alpine level:

  • Winterberry Consumables: Look for bushes and trees with Winterberry consumables. These are yourprimary source of Hunger restoration in this biome if you didn't bringfood from previous areas.
  • Icy Obstacles: Be waryof icy obstacles. Touching freezing environmental scenery (like bluecrystalline blocks on the mountainside) will inflict Frostbite buildup.
  • Lantern: Bring the Lantern from the plane wreckage at the start of Shores.Standing near it and using one of its charges will reduce your Frostbite meter.
  • Heat Packs: If you find a Heat Pack in luggage, save it for Alpine. This multi-use item instantly removes a portion of your Frostbite bar.
  • Capybara Hot Spring: Look carefully for a group of Capybaras taking refuge in a hot spring. This hot spring provides protection from the effects of Frostbite, offering a safe spot to recover.

Caldera: Handle The Heat Of The Fourth PEAK Biome

  • Main Environmental Hazards: Rising lava
  • Other Hazards: Random fire explosions

Caldera distinguishes itself from previous biomes with a horizontal layout. Instead of climbing a vertical mountainside, players must carefullynavigate a field of islands spread across a magma-filled landscape, dodging rising lava and large AoE fire explosions.

Do not lingeron the bottom layer of this area. Only descend to the flat groundbetween rock pillars when the lava is at its lowest, and only stay longenough to reach another pillar or loot a luggage container. Lava willkill you incredibly fast, so avoiding contact is your absolute toppriority. Certain areas of the level will also trigger wide AoE firedamage, which deals Fire damage to your stamina bar; this effectrecovers over time.

To conquer the Caldera biome, follow these tips:

  • Fire Damage Mitigation: There are limited ways to mitigate continuous fire damage. You musteither wait for the Fire effect to dissipate completely (which takestime) or use a Medkit or Cure-All to instantly remove the effect.
  • Chains: Many "islands" in Caldera are connected by chains. Use these to safely traverse gaps over lava.
  • Chain Jumping: You can jump onto chains from a height to conserve momentum and crossquickly without consuming much stamina. Ensure you can jump off andclimb onto a ledge on the other side.
  • Traversal Items: Utilize items like Chain Launchers, Shelf Shrooms, and Pitons to create more pathways across this challenging landscape and conserve stamina.

The Kiln: The True Final Biome In PEAK

  • Main Environmental Hazards: Lava, long climbing segments in the second half
  • Other Hazards: Fire surfaces

Upon reaching the end of the Caldera biome, you'll discover a set of ruinsand a cave leading deeper into the volcano. Enter this cave to find TheKiln, the final level in PEAK. The Kiln shares many similaritieswith Caldera, including abundant fire damage sources and omnipresentlava. Your ultimate goal in this final PEAK biome is to reach the top of the volcano by climbing its interior.

Mapping out a good route for The Kiln is challenging, as this level is fullyenclosed rather than open like previous biomes. Avoid the lava slowlyrising to fill the room and ascend the knobbly, rocky walls. Though itcan be hard to spot, there are many good places to stand and recoverstamina in the first half of The Kiln.

After roughly the halfwaymark, you'll encounter significantly more magma rocks and lava flowsthat you must avoid. It's highly advisable to save a boostingconsumable, such as an energy drink or a lollipop, for this final leg of the game. These items provide enhanced climbing ability and staminarestoration for a brief period. However, be cautious not to beoverwhelmed by sleep (fatigue) when the item's effects wear off.

The Chain Launcher and rope items are incredibly useful for this finalclimb to the top of the volcano. If you can successfully navigate andclimb the high interior walls of the volcano, you will reach the finalarea: the Peak itself. Climb to the very top of this small island tocall a helicopter and successfully beat PEAK.
