We have made a practical guide to explain How To Unlock Cruel Difficulty in Path Of Exile 2.
You may build your character and learn more about the world in Path of Exile 2's rather long main campaign, which is interspersed with a considerable amount of side content. Naturally, the game is over after a certain point, and that's only a matter of starting anew.
Even though most of the content planned for Path of Exile 2 isn't in the early access version, there's still much to see and do. Once you've completed the story chapters, you'll have the Cruel difficulty waiting for you.
How To Unlock Cruel Difficulty in Path Of Exile 2?
Cruel is available once you've completed Act 3 of PoE 2's main storyline, for simplicity's sake. You'll start all over again in Act 1, but this time around, you'll be fighting considerably more formidable opponents. It's sort of like New Game Plus, but for your character. You'll encounter foes in the earliest parts of the game that you didn't meet until much later.
It's likely that Cruel difficulty will be removed once Acts 4 and beyond are added to PoE 2, given the early access nature of the title and that only part of the story is currently accessible. For the purposes of monster level scaling, however, the other story acts will be the same as the current Cruel difficulty acts.
There are a few reasons why players should go through all three acts on Cruel difficulty again. First, the monsters in these acts are more stronger than before, therefore killing them will offer better gear, more experience, and more gold overall. Second, completing Act 3 on Cruel difficulty is currently your only option for reaching the Atlas endgame.
If you've beaten the challenging boss in Act 3 on Normal mode, you shouldn't have any problems on Cruel difficulty because every adversary is going to be harder. If you're utilizing a glass cannon build, you can find things a lot more challenging due to the substantially bigger health pools and harsher hits from all monsters.
Going to a waypoint will allow you to easily teleport back to the Normal difficulty Acts.
Earn Ascendancy Points
This is a good time to start stockpiling the Ascendancy Points if you haven't done so during PoE 2's Trial of Chaos or Trial of the Sekhemas. These two challenges are grueling at their respective recommended levels, but once you have overcome Act 3, they will be significantly easier.
Improve Your Farming Setup
Incidentally, if you're up for a challenge, high-level Sekhemas and Chaos runs also provide decent gear. Each activity has its own negative factor that makes every run tough (sometimes extremely so), but if you can survive till the end, you'll probably find a ton of cool stuff in your inventory. Even if you don't strike it rich with your drops, disenchanting undesirable gear will yield some valuable monetary items.
