Outer Worlds 2: All Praetor Grounding Stations

Phase 1: Starting the 'Fiddling With Fulgurating Fulminations' Quest

You can begin your career as a power grid technician on Praetor through two methods: a formal introduction or accidental discovery.

1. Meeting Exemplar Simon (The Formal Start)

The official quest-giver is Exemplar Simon of the Order of the Ascendant.

• Locating the Station: Head to the far east of Praetor, positioning yourself between the Auntie's Choice settlement (in the southeast) and the central Automech facility.
• Reaching Simon: Look for the path that winds behind the Grounding Station in this area. Follow it until you reach Exemplar Simon waiting inside a raised lift.
• The Dialogue: Talk to Simon to officially receive the 'Fiddling With Fulgurating Fulminations' mission.

2. Independent Discovery (The Informal Start)

• If you manage to locate and repair or recalibrate a Lightning Tower terminal before speaking to Exemplar Simon, the mission will automatically start in your journal.
• Regardless of how you start, you must find your way to Exemplar Simon upon completing all five towers to collect your final rewards.

Phase 2: Locating All Five Grounding Stations

Each of the five Grounding Stations presents a unique environmental orcombat challenge. Be prepared for a fight, as these valuable locationsare often heavily guarded.

Lightning Tower 1: Southeast of the Tomb of the Matriarch

• Challenge: The Grounding Station at this location is missing a crucial Replacement Part.
• Solution: You must venture to the east and clear out a hostile Scrapper camp. Defeat the Scrappers, find the Replacement Part lying on a table, and return it to the station’s port to activate the terminal for recalibration.

Lightning Tower 2: West of the Northwestern Bridge

• Challenge: The path leading up the hill to this station is heavily infested with Verachnids (the main bug-type enemy on Praetor).
• Solution: This is a straightforward, intense fight. Quick-save before heading up the hill in case you get swarmed. Clear the path andthe area immediately around the station before recalibrating theterminal.

Lightning Tower 3: Southeast from the Grounding Tower

• Challenge: The surrounding area is infested with Mantid enemies (wasps). While not as dense as the Verachnids, they pose a significant flying threat.
• Solution: Defeat these wasps, then enter the station to recalibrate the nearby Lightning Tower terminal.

Lightning Tower 4: South of Automech Facility

• Challenge: The front door to this Grounding Station is locked. The area is a conflict zone between warring Raptidon and Protectorate enemies.
• Solution (Choose One):

• Have a high enough Lockpick skill to bypass the door mechanism.
• Alternatively, find a path to the rooftop and drop down inside the station. Be cautious of the ongoing battle outside, as you could easily get caught in the crossfire.

Lightning Tower 5: South of the Rift Modulator Location

• Challenge: The station is only easily accessible by navigating through Rifts and landing on the roof.
• Solution: You must first find the Rift Modulator. This crucial item is located in the facility just to the north of this station's map marker. Once acquired, use the Modulator on the Rifts surrounding the Grounding Station. This will create a path, allowing you to jump onto the roof of the station and drop down inside to reach the final terminal.

Phase 3: Fulfilling the Fulminations (Quest Rewards)

Once all five Lightning Towers have been recalibrated, return to Exemplar Simon to claim your reward.

Unique Storm Grenades

• Immediate Reward: You will receive a standard chunk of XP and a generous supply of 10x unique Storm Grenades.
• The Recipe: Crucially, you also earn the recipe to craft these powerful grenades indefinitely.

The Power of the Storm Grenade

Storm Grenades are a highly valuable reward because they offer unique shock-based combat utility:

• They stick to enemies upon impact.
• They significantly increase the incoming Shock damage dealt to the affected target.
• On Praetor: If used while on the planet, they will even call down lightning storms on the enemy, maximizing the damage potential.

To craft more Storm Grenades at any crafting bench, you will need to combine: 1x Voltspore, 3x Energy Canister, and 1x Black Powder.

Achievement Unlocked

Completing the mission will also reward you with the dedicated 'Praetor Towers Powered' achievement.

By successfully navigating the treacherous landscape and completing allfive recalibrations, you not only stabilize Praetor but also armyourself with a deadly, lightning-fueled arsenal, ensuring you leaveyour mark on the region.
