Most of the time, bears are associated with heavily forested areas, especially near water. Watch for signs of bears like tracks, scat, or food that has partially been consumed. If you see one, make slow movements toward it and do not startle it. On that note, calm and nonaggressive behavior is essential to be projected if a person wants to maximize the potential for a safe and sane encounter.
It requires much patience, perseverance, and knowledge about their behavior to make them friendly. You will need to feed them or do something that will make the bear realize you are friendly and can be trusted. Consider the fact that every bear is different, and it might be swayed in different ways by their unique personalities. Sooner or later, with patience, commitment, and respect, you can develop a lifelong friendship with one of these amazing creatures.
You will need to stray away from the main plot to fight bears within Once Human. You do this in the Chalk Peak area, level 30, which unlocks as you progress through the story. While searching for bears, be on the lookout for Special Parts as well.
From Chalk Peak, go northwest past the Monolight of Thirst and Alpha Institute, and you'll end up in a coastal region full of bears. These level 35 creatures are the paragons of strength and aggression. Much as their ranged attacks can be killer, they are most dangerous in close combat.
When facing bears, try to perform either ranged attacks or strategic melee. You can use environmental hazards or traps to your advantage as well. Though they might be tough, the reward is pretty nice: loot and experience points await you after their defeat.

How to Tame Bears in Once Human?
After pointing out the Memetic skill tree, you will want to tame the bear. On the right side of the Logistics tree you will find the skills Animal Capture and Animal Taming. Both are pretty pricey, costing 7 Cipher points and 2,000 Energy Links to unlock, but you'll be able to craft the Throwable Tranquilizer Dart once you have both.
When you're in combat with a tameable creature, a progress bar below their health bar will show how far you are into taming the creature. Make sure you're equipped with a tranquilizer before approaching a bear. Once you've lowered their health below threshold, fire the dart between their eyes to start the capture process.
After capturing a bear, making a Whistle is imperative. It will be a crafting item made from the tree of Animal Capture, unlocked in Once Human, to call upon the captured companion for aid in battle.
