Shadow Hound is one of many formidable bosses. He can be found in the level 32 quest "In the Tall Grass." This monster dog protects the fourth Monolith inside Chalk Peak at coordinates (1735, -4882).

Before you get to this beast, there will be one more mini-game to complete. Coming to Chalk Peak, you'll be required to find and kill three catchers around a backroom-like area. The small issue in this would be that their places are generated randomly. If you succeed in killing them off, you'll unlock Shadow Hound's way.

Preparing for the Battle

Shadow Hound is a level 40 boss, so make sure you're geared up for it. You really should have antibiotics for leg ulcers, any user, and Deviant's Choice in the Cradle equipped.

Battle Strategy

The arena will feature two halves with portals connecting them. These portals are what will help you avoid most of Shadow Hound's attacks and otherwise give you an upper hand.

Shadow Hound's Attacks

Charge and Bite: Shadow Hound will charge at you and try to take a big chunk out of your HP.
Triple Shot: It fires three shots always in a straight line. Jumping over them is the best counter.
Suction Attack: The beast jumps, spins, and pulls you towards it before slamming into the ground. Move laterally to avoid being caught.
Laser Beam: Shadow Hound opens his mouth and shoots a laser at the ground.

Extra Difficulties

As the battle progresses, Shadow Hound gains more abilities:

Shoulder Cannons: Two mouths come out of its shoulders, shooting projectiles.
Twilight Orbs: They float around the boss and will deal damage if shot.

Winning Tips

Use the portals to your own benefit.
Stay away, dodging most of the attacks.
Attack the Twilight Orbs first.
Be patient, waiting for an opportunity to attack.
