It should come as no surprise then that her quest in Oblivion Remastered tasks her newest champion with orchestrating a bloody conflict between two rival clans residing within the same homestead.For players who enjoy a bit of cunning and espionage in their adventures, Mephala's quest offers a unique and rewarding experience. Successfully manipulating these two factions to turn against each other will ultimately lead to a powerful reward: the coveted Ebony Blade.

Oblivion Remastered: How to Get the Ebony Blade

Locating Mephala's Shrine and Initiating the Quest

To begin Mephala's sinister task, you must first locate her shrine.

• Shrine Location: Mephala's Shrine can be found in the northern region of the Imperial City, situated just before the Silver Road appears on your map.
• Quest Activation Requirement: You will need to reach Level 15 before you can initiate this Daedric quest.
• Offering to Mephala: To gain Mephala's attention, you must present her statue with a Nightshade. This plant is relatively common throughout Cyrodiil and can be harvested in various locations. However, for convenience, Nightshade is a frequently stocked ingredient at the Main Ingredient shop in the Imperial City's Market District. While inexpensive, resourceful players can attempt to steal one from the shop counter to save a few gold coins.
• Presenting the Offering: Once you have acquired a Nightshade, travel to Mephala's Shrine. You must offer the Nightshade to the statue between the hours of midnight and dawn (12 AM - 5 AM) to trigger Mephala's communication and receive her dark instructions.

Orchestrating Chaos: Killing and Framing the Rival Clans

Mephala's request sends you to Bleaker's Way, a seemingly peaceful homestead harboring a simmering rivalry. Your objective is to secretly assassinate both Nivan Dalvilu and Hrol Ulfgar, the leaders of the two feuding clans, and plant false evidence to incriminate the other family for each murder.

Eliminating Nivan Dalvilu and Framing the Ulfgar Clan

Your first target is Nivan Dalvilu.

Infiltrate Nivan's House: Around midnight, utilize your lockpicks to discreetly enter Nivan Dalvilu's house while he is likely asleep.Alternatively, if stealthy entry proves difficult, ensure you eliminatehim within his house when no other witnesses are present.

Acquire the Dalvilu Ceremonial Dagger: After dealing with Nivan, locate the Dalvilu Ceremonial Dagger. This item can be found on a table along the east wall of his house. You will need this dagger to frame Hrol Ulfgar.

Obtain the Ulfgar Family Ring: Next, head to Hrol Ulfgar's house. On a table located just before the entrance to the bedroom, you will find the Ulfgar Family Ring. Take this ring.

Plant the Evidence: Return to Nivan Dalvilu's corpse and place the Ulfgar Family Ring onto his body. This will serve as the planted evidence to suggest the Ulfgar clan was responsible for his death.

Eliminating Hrol Ulfgar and Framing the Dalvilu Clan

Your next target is Hrol Ulfgar.

Ensure You Have the Dagger: Before entering Hrol's residence, double-check that you have the Dalvilu Ceremonial Dagger you retrieved from Nivan's house.

Infiltrate Hrol's House: Enter Hrol Ulfgar's house and proceed upstairs. Despite the house having three floors, attempt to remain in stealth to avoid waking him.

Assassinate Hrol: Once you locate Hrol sleeping, silently murder him.

Plant the Evidence: Place the Dalvilu Ceremonial Dagger onto Hrol Ulfgar's corpse to frame the Dalvilu clan for his murder.

Retrieve the Ring (If Necessary): On your way out of Hrol's house, ensure you have the Ulfgar Family Ring. If you haven't already placed it on Nivan's body, do so now.

Claiming Your Reward: The Ebony Blade

With both Nivan and Hrol dead and the false evidence planted, your manipulations are nearly complete.

Report the Murders: Head to the Bleaker's Way Goodwill Inn and inform Kirsten about the murders.

Witness the Carnage:Kirsten, upon hearing the news, will emerge from the inn, weapon drawn.This will ignite the long-simmering tensions between the Ulfgar andDalvil clans, causing them to engage in a deadly battle until only onefamily remains.

Return to Mephala's Shrine: Once the bloody conflict has concluded and only one clan stands victorious (albeit unknowingly manipulated), return to Mephala's Shrine.

Receive the Ebony Blade: Mephala, pleased with your successful orchestration of chaos, will reward you with the Ebony Blade. This powerful one-handed longsword possesses formidable enchantmentsfor those who favor draining their enemies' life force and silencingmagical threats:

• Silence on Strike (10 Seconds): Prevents the target from casting spells for a short duration.
• Absorb Health on Strike (8 Points): Drains 8 points of health from the target and adds it to your own.
