For players with a taste for the macabre and a desire to stalk the nights as creatures of darkness, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered offers the thrilling possibility of becoming a vampire. This guide will illuminate the path to vampirism, detailing the transformation process, the alluring benefits, and the significant drawbacks of embracing this unholy existence, allowing you to decide if the power of the night is worth the price.

The Embrace of the Night: Steps to Becoming a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

The quickest and most direct route to vampirism in Oblivion Remastered lies within the depths of Barren Cave. This location can be found along the east road leading from the Imperial City towards Cheydinhal, situated just below the Blue Road. Upon entering Barren Cave, you will encounter two hostile vampires. To contract vampirism, you must allow these vampires to attack you. Their attacks carry the disease Porphyric Hemophilia, which will be indicated in the top-left corner of your screen. Porphyric Hemophilia is the initial stage of vampirism. Once infected, you can safely leave Barren Cave. While it's also possible to become a vampire by completing all of Vicente Valtieri's assassination contracts within the Dark Brotherhood questline, this method is significantly more time-consuming than the Barren Cave approach. With Porphyric Hemophilia coursing through your veins, the next step is to wait a few in-game days for the transformation to complete. You will need to wait for three full in-game days to pass, and then sleep on the night of the third day. Upon waking, a text prompt will confirm your transformation into a vampire. Prepare to embrace the darkness and stalk the night henceforth.

The Price of Darkness: Disadvantages of Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered

Unfortunately, the path of the vampire in Oblivion Remastered is fraught withsignificant drawbacks, often outweighing the benefits. The mostimmediate and impactful limitation is the inability to venture out during the day. Vampires are creatures of the night, and exposure to sunlight will cause them to burn and take damage every second the sun is visible. This relegates your activities to the nighttime hours.

Furthermore, vampires suffer from a weakness to fire, a significant vulnerability considering that many enemies in Oblivion, particularly those from the Oblivion Gates themselves, utilizefire-based attacks.

Reaching stage four of vampirism imposes an even greater social restriction: you will be unable to interact with most non-hostile NPCs. This severely hinders your ability to accept and complete quests andengage in other adventures throughout Cyrodiil. To alleviate this stagefour effect and regain the ability to interact with NPCs, you will needto feed on other humanoids.

Quenching the Thirst: How to Feed as a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

As a newly turned vampire, you will experience a growing hunger. For eachday you go without feeding, your vampirism stage will increase, eventually reaching the restrictive stage four. To satiate your vampiric thirst and reduce your vampirism stage back to stage one, you must feed on living humanoid NPCs.

The crucial caveat is that you can only feed on sleeping NPCs. This necessitates breaking into people's homes during the night andstealthily approaching sleeping individuals to interact with them andfeed. However, be warned: if you are caught feeding, guards will immediately become hostile towards you.

Embracing vampirism in Oblivion Remastered offers a unique and powerful gameplayexperience, but it comes with significant limitations and socialconsequences. Carefully weigh the alluring benefits against therestrictive drawbacks before deciding to walk the path of the dreadednight walker.
