Who is Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits?

This is the first boss battle you'll have to face. Kappa, is one of the many lost souls that can't make it to the next world without your help. It is a twisted creature with the appearance of a twisted tree monster that glows a sickly red to pinkish color. Despite the first boss you face in the game, it's not exactly an easy thing to deal with, so it will be helpful to know how to beat Kappa so stay tuned.

How to beat Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits? - Difficulty levels

Before telling you how to beat Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits, the first thing you need to know is that the game has four difficulty levels:

• Story mode: enemies are less aggressive and the little spirit companions called Rot abilities recharge passively and when Kena takes damage.

• Spirit guide: enemies are aggressive, rot abilities recharge when they take damage.

• Expert spirit guide: combat is difficult, enemies are aggressive, cause more damage and rot skills are only recharged when Kena inflicts damage

• Master Spirit Guide: corresponds to the most difficult combat level.

Although the difficulty level will influence the amount of damage you take, it will not influence the basic mechanics of the confrontation. However, the way Kena's Rupture abilities are recharged should be taken into account before facing Kappa, especially if you are counting on the Rupture healing ability to survive.

How to beat Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits?

Now, taking into account that this is not an easy matchup, we have divided it into two parts to make things easier for you.

How to beat Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits? - First phase

When you start the confrontation you will notice three puddles of sticky corruption on the ground, which will be used by this enemy to teleport around the battlefield and every time it appears it will try to launch a ranged attack at you, a fireball-like attack that becomes an add-on when it hits Kena or the ground.

To avoid these adds you will have to use heavy or light attacks, using the two buttons on the right bumper and the game's haptic adaptive controls.

If you want to attack you will have to pay attention to the puddles looking for the pink glow, this will indicate where Kappa will appear. But be aware that if you are too close to the puddle where he reappears, the puddles may move again to prevent Kena from damaging them.

When you are close enough, what you have to do is attack Kappa using light attacks before he disappears. But make sure you keep dodging his ranged missile.

Note that this enemy has a secondary attack, with which he moves quickly between the three puddles so that you can't hurt him.

He will take advantage of this to drop three enemy adds to the field and won't reappear until you finish them off. So you will simply have to use crushing attacks to eliminate them.

How to beat Kappa in Kena Bridge of Spirits? - Last phase

After you finish with the two Kappa adds Kappa will return and when he has half health, he will start the last phase.

In this phase he will have the two previous attacks and a new one. With this one the boss will appear on a ledge above your head bathing the field with fireballs. Faced with this, Kena will have to use her quick dodge and her L1 shield for damage.

Note that being limited to melee damage, it won't be possible to hit Kappa, as it rains fire and you'll have to get to safety.
