Tucked away but incredibly useful, New World's Activity Finder is your streamlined gateway to Expeditions (dungeons), Trials (raids), Arenas, PvP modes, and seasonal events. Once you know where to look, this tool becomes one of the most efficient ways to jump into content quickly, whether you're farming gear, leveling up, or just looking for a fast Expedition run. This guide will teach you how to queue up effectively, understand role and gear requirements, and avoid common pitfalls that can prevent your group from launching.

How To Access The Activity Finder
The Activity Finder is New World’s built-in matchmaking system, similar to group finders in other MMOs. It consolidates queuing for various group activities into a single, convenient menu. While there are a few ways to access group content, the Activities menu (Option 3 below) is the most efficient and fastest method.
Here are the three ways to access group content, with the Activities menu being the recommended approach:
Option 1: Use Entrances Located Throughout the World
- Travel directly to the physical entrance of an activity in the open world. These are often marked by large, glowing doorways.
- Once you enter the instance lobby, you can interact with the available
lobbies or queue for a run from within that specific location.
Option 2: Find On The In-Game Map
Press "M" to open the World Map.Search the map for the icon representing the activity you wish to join (e.g., Amrine Excavation, Garden of Genesis).Hover your mouse over the activity icon to bring up a floating menu.Select the desired difficulty of the activity. This will often open the Activity Finder with that specific activity pre-selected.
Option 3: Through the "Activities" Menu (The Most Efficient)
Press "Esc" to open the Game Menu.At the top of the menu, select "Activities". This will open the Activity Finder interface.
Using the Activity Finder Interface:
Once you have the Activity Finder open:
Select Activity Type: On the left side of the window, you'll see sections for PvE and PvP. Click on the specific type of content you want to join (e.g., Expeditions, Elite Trials, Outpost Rush, Arenas).Choose Specific Activity or "Random":- After selecting an activity type, a list of available group content will appear on the right.
- You can choose a specific activity that matches your level and gear score.
- Alternatively, selecting "Random Expedition" (under the Expeditions tab) can significantly speed up matchmaking by
queuing you for any available Expedition within your level range.
Check Requirements: Before joining or queuing, be aware that most activities have level and gear score requirements. Take a moment to check your current gear score (bottom left of your inventory screen, accessed by pressing "Tab") and confirm your intended role (Tank, Healer, or DPS).Join an Existing Lobby or Queue:- You'll see a list of available lobbies waiting to start or a notification indicating "No available Lobby."
- If lobbies are listed, select one that suits you.
- Choose your desired role (DPS, Tank, or Healer) from the available options within the lobby listing.
- Click "Request to Join" and wait for the lobby host to approve your request or for the lobby to fill through the queue.
- If you don't want to join a specific lobby, press "Queue" at the bottom of the Activity Finder window. The game will then attempt to match you with other players looking for the same activity.
Be Aware of Lobby Host Preferences: Some lobby hosts may only accept players with a minimum gear score,
level, specific roles, or particular gear equipped. Ensure you meet any
listed prerequisites before requesting to join. For example, the Amrine
Excavation Expedition requires players to be at least level 25 and have
the Azoth Staff equipped.
How To Create An Activity Finder Lobby
If you don't see any suitable lobbies listed, you can easily create your own:
After selecting your desired Expedition or activity in the Activity Finder, click the "Create Lobby" button.The Create New Lobby Menu will appear, offering several customization options:- Minimum Gear Score: Use the slider to set the minimum gear score required for players to
join your lobby. The minimum cannot exceed your own gear score.
- Minimum Level: Similar to gear score, set the minimum level requirement for joining
players. The minimum cannot be higher than your current level.
- Accepted Roles: Check the boxes next to the roles you want in your lobby (DPS, Healer,
Tank). While the traditional "holy trinity" is recommended for many
activities, you have the flexibility to choose your preferred
composition.
- Your Role: Select the role you intend to fill within the lobby.
- Description: Add a custom message to your lobby listing (e.g., "Syndicate Only," "New Players Welcome," "Fast Run").
- Voice Chat: Indicate whether voice communication is expected for your lobby.
- Invite Current Group Members: Automatically invite any players currently in your open-world group to the newly created lobby.
Once you have configured your lobby settings, click "Create".Your lobby will now be visible to other players browsing the Activity Finder for that specific activity, and they can send you requests to join your party directly through the interface.By understanding how to access and utilize the Activity Finder
