How to Unlock the Amstrigian Head Armor in MH Wilds:
You can acquire the Amstrigian head armor set by successfully completing the limited-time “When Do Quematrice Sing?” Event Quest. This special mission will be available until April 22nd at 4:59 pm PT / April 23rd at 00:59 BST. Make sure to tackle this quest before it disappears!Once you unlock the recipe for the Amstrigian head armor, you will need to gather the following resources to craft it at the Smithy:- x3 Amstrigian Ticket
- x3 Quematrice Crest+
- x5 Monster Keenbone
How to Complete the "When Do Quematrice Sing?" Quest in MH Wilds:
Before embarking on the quest to hunt the Quematrice, proper preparation is key to success:
- Weapon Choice: It is highly recommended to utilize weapons that have Water elemental buffs attached. The Quematrice is particularly vulnerable to Water elementattacks, making these weapons significantly more effective against it.
- Status Effects: Consider using weapons or items that can inflict Status Effects like Poison and Paralysis. These can help to debilitate the Quematrice, making it easier to manage and bring down quickly.
- Health and Recovery: Ensure you have an ample supply of healing potions in your inventory to recover from damage. Additionally, bring Nulberries to counteract the Fireblight status effect that the Quematrice can inflict.
Engaging the Quematrice:
When you finally face the Quematrice in battle, focus your attacks on its most vulnerable parts:
- Neck: The neck of the Quematrice is its most susceptible area to damage. Try to target it as much as possible.
- Tail: If you have difficulty reaching its neck, the tail is another good target. With enough sustained attacks, the Quematrice's tail can be severed, potentially yielding additional materials andreducing its attack range.
- Head: The head is also a viable target for dealing significant damage.
Dealing with Quematrice's Attacks:
The Quematrice's tail swings are among its most dangerous attacks due to their high damage output and wide reach. You will need to dodge these attacks quickly and effectively to avoid taking substantial damage.
If you are hit by the Quematrice's fiery attacks and afflicted with Fireblight, immediately consume a Nulberry to remove this debilitating status effect.
Quest Completion and Rewards:
After successfully hunting and taking down the Quematrice, you will receivevarious valuable monster parts that can be used for crafting andupgrading equipment. This loot will include the crucial Amstrigian Ticket, which is the key to unlocking the new Amstrigian armor set.
All Amstrigian Head Armor Stats and Buffs:
Once you have obtained at least one Amstrigian Ticket, head to a nearby Smithy. The recipe for the new Amstrigian head armor piece will now beavailable for crafting. This headpiece offers the following stats:
- Defense: 36
- Fire Resistance: -2
- Water Resistance: 2
- Thunder Resistance: 1
- Ice Resistance: -2
- Dragon Resistance: 3
- Wide-Range (Equipment Skill): Allows the effects of certain consumable items to affect nearby allies.
- Evade Extender: Increases the distance covered when you evade (roll or dodge).
- Affinity Sliding (Group Skill): Temporarily increases your weapon affinity when you perform a slide.1
While the Amstrigian armor set might not offer the highest raw defensecompared to some other gear, its utility, especially in multiplayerhunts, is noteworthy. The Wide-Range skill is incredibly beneficial for supporting your hunting party, andupgrading this skill to higher levels (up to Level 5) will significantly increase its effective radius.
Activating the Buttery Leathercraft Group Skill:
To activate the Buttery Leathercraft Group Skill, you need to equip four other armor pieces that are crafted from materials of the following monsters:
- Catacabra
- Gypceros
- Rompopolo
- Xu Wu
Equipping any four armor pieces (head, chest, arms, waist, legs) made from thesemonsters, in addition to any Amstrigian piece, will trigger the buffprovided by the Buttery Leathercraft Group Skill.
Layered Armor (Transmog):
Even if you are not particularly fond of the Amstrigian armor's stats, youcan still enjoy its unique appearance by utilizing the Layered Armor (Transmog) system at the Base Camp's Tent. By using the Amstrigian Ticket, you can apply the Amstrigianheadpiece's visual style to your preferred armor, allowing you to sportthe adorable monster-themed look without sacrificing your optimal statsand skills.
