Discover how to find and obtain the elusive Happy Ghast in Minecraft with our step-by-step guide. Unlock new adventures today!
The Happy Ghast is a delightful new friendly mob making its way to Minecraft, offering players of both Bedrock and Java Edition a unique aerial companion. However, acquiring this smiling creature involves a fascinating evolution, starting from a Dried Ghast, then a Ghastling, and finally the rideable Happy Ghast. This guide will detail each step of this process, allowing you to take to the skies without an Elytra in sight!
Minecraft: How to Get the Happy Ghast
Availability:
It's important to note that the
Happy Ghast is currently only available in Minecraft Bedrock Edition’s Preview and Minecraft Java Edition’s Snapshot. The full release of the Happy Ghast is anticipated with the
Summer Drop 2025, which is scheduled for
June 2025.
Where to Find a Dried Ghast in Minecraft:
The journey to a Happy Ghast begins in the Nether with the Dried Ghast.
- Location: Dried Ghasts are found as solid blocks in the Nether, particularly near the bone structure fossils of the Soul Sand Valley.
- Acquisition: DriedGhasts can be instantly mined with any tool or even your hand, allowingyou to easily pick them up and transport them to the Overworld.
- Crafting Alternative: Alternatively, you can craft a Dried Ghast in the Overworld using a Crafting Table with the following recipe:
Ghast Tear
| Ghast Tear
| Ghast Tear |
---|
Ghast Tear | Bone Block | Ghast Tear |
Ghast Tear | Ghast Tear | Ghast Tear |
How to Turn the Dried Ghast into a Ghastling in Minecraft:
Once you have a Dried Ghast, your next step is to bring it to the Overworld and initiate its transformation into a Ghastling.
- Waterlogging: In the Overworld, you need to waterlog the Dried Ghast for 20 minutes. This is done by placing a Water Bucket on the same block as the Dried Ghast, submerging it in water.
- Containment: If you want to prevent the water from spreading, you can use fences, blocks, or doors to create a stationary water source around the DriedGhast.
- Transformation: After the 20-minute duration, the Dried Ghast will gradually develop a smile and then transform into a Ghastling. This is a smaller and friendlier version of the Nether-dwelling Ghast.
- Maturation: The Ghastling will eventually mature into a full-grown Happy Ghast. You can speed up this growth process by feeding the Ghastling Snowballs.
How to Ride a Happy Ghast in Minecraft:
To take your Happy Ghast for a spin in the sky, you'll need to craft a Harness.
How Do Happy Ghasts Work in Minecraft?
Once your Ghastling has matured into a large Happy Ghast, here's what you can expect from its behavior:
- Passive and Aimless: Happy Ghasts are entirely passive mobs and will not attack any othercreatures. They also don't have a specific agenda or path they follow.
- Luring and Leashing: You can lure Happy Ghasts towards you by holding either a Harness or Snowballs. They can also be put on a Leash for easier transportation.
- No Fireballs: Unlike their Nether counterparts, Happy Ghasts are designed purely for riding and cannot shoot fireballs.
With patience and a bit of crafting, you can acquire your very own HappyGhast and enjoy the unique experience of flying through your Minecraftworlds with this gentle giant. Get ready for some exciting aerialadventures when the Summer Drop 2025 arrives!
