How to Find the End Portal in Minecraft

Minecraft is an expansive game that offers endless opportunities for creation and exploration. For many players, the ultimate goal in a Survival world is to defeat the Ender Dragon and complete the game's final challenge. This journey culminates at the End Portal, a gateway to the End dimension.While finding the End Portal might seem like a daunting task, the game provides a specific tool and a method for tracking it down. Here’s a detailed guide on how to locate the End Portal quickly and efficiently.

Minecraft: How to Find the End Portal

Step 1: Craft the Eye of Ender

Before you can even begin your search, you must first craft a crucial item: the Eye of Ender. This item is essential for both locating the Stronghold (where the portal is located) and for activating the portal itself.The recipe for a single Eye of Ender is as follows:

• 1x Ender Pearl: These are dropped by Endermen, which are tall, dark, neutral mobs that spawn at night in the Overworld and are common in the Nether's Warped Forest biome.
• 1x Blaze Powder: This is crafted from a Blaze Rod, which is a drop from Blazes, a flying mob found in Nether Fortresses. You must first venture into the Nether to find and defeat these mobs.

You will need a minimum of 12 Eyes of Ender to open the End Portal. However, it's highly recommended to craft more than that (around 15-20) because they can be lost during the search process.

Step 2: Use the Eyes of Ender to Find the Stronghold

The End Portal is always located inside a large, underground structure called a Stronghold. The Eye of Ender acts as a compass to guide you to the nearest one.

• Throw the Eye of Ender: Equip the Eye of Ender and use it (right-click on PC, LT on Xbox, or L2 on PlayStation). It will fly a short distance into the air, travelingin the direction of the nearest Stronghold.
• Follow the Eye: Follow the path it takes. After a few seconds, the Eye of Ender willeither drop to the ground or shatter completely. It has an 80% chance of being recoverable and a 20% chance of being destroyed. This is whyhaving extras is so important.
• Repeat the Process: Walk a few hundred blocks in the direction the Eye flew, and then throw another one. This saves you from wasting Eyes of Ender by throwing them too frequently. Repeat this process until you reach a point where theEye no longer flies forward but instead floats into the ground. Whenthis happens, you are directly above the Stronghold.

Step 3: Enter the Stronghold and Locate the End Portal

Once you are directly above the Stronghold, you'll need to dig down to get inside.

Dig Down Safely: To avoid falling into lava or taking fall damage, it is a commonpractice to stand in the middle of two blocks and mine them both as youdescend. This provides a safety net if you encounter an open cavern or a lava pool.

Find the Stronghold: After some digging, you will eventually break into the Stronghold, a maze-like structure made of stone bricks.

Search for the Portal Room: The next and often trickiest step is to find the End Portal Room. This room has a distinct look:

• It features a staircase leading down to a platform.
• A small, dark room with a Silverfish Spawner.
• A pool of lava directly underneath the portal frames.
• The End Portal itself, which is a ring of 12 green frames.

Since the Stronghold is a maze, it's easy to get lost. A helpful tip is toplace torches on one side of the wall as you explore (e.g., always place them on the right) so you can easily retrace your steps. The sounds ofthe Silverfish Spawner can also help you pinpoint the room's location.

Activate the Portal: When you find the End Portal, you will see that some of the 12 framesmay already have an Eye of Ender in them. Simply place an Eye of Enderinto each of the empty frames. Once all 12 frames are filled, the portal will activate, revealing a swirling, starry vortex. Jump in to teleport to the End and face the Ender Dragon.
