Coarse Thread is a fundamental crafting material in the early stages of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, particularly essential for creating bows. Unlike common resources, it requires a crafting process. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough on how to efficiently find the necessary materials, construct a Spinning Wheel, and ultimately craft Coarse Thread.

Runescape Dragonwilds: Find and Craft Coarse Thread

Coarse Thread is not directly gathered; instead, it is crafted from Coarse Animal Fur.

Obtain Coarse Animal Fur: The most efficient way to acquire Coarse Animal Fur is by hunting low-level animals near the starting areas.

• Kebbits: Located just outside the Tutorial Castle, Kebbits are a reliable and frequent source of Coarse Animal Fur. They are an excellent target for early farming.
• Temple Woods Creatures: Many furry creatures inhabiting Temple Woods also drop Coarse Animal Fur. You will likely encounter these animals during your initial quests, making it a convenient way to passively accumulate fur.
• General Rule: Any furry animal found in the beginner zones has a chance to yield Coarse Animal Fur.

Construct a Spinning Wheel: Once you have gathered a sufficient amount of Coarse Animal Fur, you will need a Spinning Wheel to process it into thread. To build a Spinning Wheel, collect the following materials:

• 12 Ash Logs: Easily obtained by chopping down Ash Trees found in various early-game areas.
• 4 Flax: Flax is slightly less common. Travel east of Temple Woods to Bramblemead Valley. Here, you will find blue-flowered Flax plants that you can harvest. Gather the required amount and return to your base.
• 2 Stone: Mine Stone deposits, which are commonly found near rocky areas.

Important Note: A Spinning Wheel must be placed indoors. Therefore, ensure you have constructed at least a basic shelter before attempting to place the Spinning Wheel.

Crafting Coarse Thread: With your Spinning Wheel constructed and placed inside your shelter, interact with it. You will then be able to insert the Coarse Animal Fur. The crafting ratio is 3 Coarse Animal Fur to produce 1 Coarse Thread. Stock up on fur accordingly before crafting to create a sufficient supply of thread. Coarse Thread is a vital component in crafting various early-game items, most notably bows and potentially some pieces of armor.

As you progress through the main storyline, you will eventually encounter a quest where a wise old man requires antlers to perform a locator spell. The only way to obtain antlers is by hunting deer. Arrows are crafted inbatches, with one crafting action typically yielding a stack of 99arrows (three sets).
  • Fang Arrows:
    • 1 Ash Log
    • 1 Small Animal Fang: Commonly dropped by giant rats found in various early areas.
    • 1 Feather: Often dropped by chickens and other bird-like wildlife in the starting zones.
