Metaphor ReFantazio: How to Fix Controller Issues
PlayStation controllers work in ReFantazio on PC thanks to the Steam Input-enabling Metaphor, as the game lacks native support for them. You can switch between the in-game PlayStation button prompts no matter what controller type you have plugged in.
- Launch Steam and head into your library after ensuring Metaphor ReFantazio isn't running.
- In this window, search for Metaphor ReFantazio and right-click on it. Move to its Properties.
- Metaphor ReFantazio has an Override option where it gives you an Enable Steam Input option under the Controller tab.
- Then you will have the chance to attach any controller with the help of Steam Input and that will work properly. Not having native profiles for different controllers shouldn't hold you back from adding button prompts in your game.
To change this, head to the Gameplay settings and find "Button Display" at the bottom of the page. There are two sets of instructions for both the DualShock 4 and the DualSense, and you can switch between the two.
Run Steam as administrator.
Some PC gamers reported that controllers wouldn't register in-game with Steam Input-which, frankly, is kinda a pain in the butt that most Steam users should be able to avoid having to deal with. Worth trying here, maybe; running Steam as administrator fixed that somehow.

To really take Metaphor ReFantazio to the next level, though, we recommend taking some time out to install a mod that adds in ultrawide compatibility, reduces egregious aliasing, and more.
