To complete the Knock-Knock quest, you only need to Trick-or-Treat with three villages, but you can Trick-or-Treat with however many villagers you have.

When you've tricked or treated your fill with a villager, you'll have to wait a day to try again, since each villager can only be tricked or treated once each day! Trick-or-treating is forbidden with locals in the Rebel Outpost, too.
