Metaphor While the party's ultimate objective for getting closer to Louis, there are a lot of side missions that one can do on the way to achieving that objective. Some of the most challenging battles in this game are derived from the "Trial of the Dragon" questline where Edeni is the antagonist. From here, the party will start facing each formidable boss such as Devourer of Nations, Devourer of Stars among others as it advances through this quest line.

One of the solid enemies in the game, Elegy of the Soul, waits at the end of the quest line. To be able to beat this boss, follow the steps below for preparation.

How to defeat Elegy of the Soul in Metaphor ReFantazio?

A Soul's Elegy: A Preparation

He must be above level 70 to make it hard for the enemy to defeat him. Unlike other bosses, this boss will be able to change into other archetypes as the fight continues. Already hard to predict what his next move would be, now he will have access to a huge variety of abilities and attacks. This boss will have access to the following archetypes:

Shadow Dancer, Thief, Summoner, Warrior, Knight
Seeker, Berserker, Prince
Some example paradigms for this fight are as follows. That being said, other Personas - such as the Masked Dancer or the Royal Knight, at higher ranks - may also be viable in this fight.

Samurai, Healer, Prince, and Persona Master

Be certain to not equip or use any items/equipment that possess the Repel or Absorb attributes. This is because, said equipment activated, the boss unleashes an unstoppable "Armageddon's Final Sire" assault capable of knocking out the party in one hit. Since it deals with fire-based attacks, those can inflict severe damage to the party; hence, it's wise equipping items that reduce fire damage.

Metaphor ReFantazio Revives the Elegy of the Soul

The boss begins with five turns and a wide variety of attack types and varieties of attacks. He only needs four of those to wipe out the party, even though one of them will be to change archetypes. If you want to approach this fight with some familiarity and ease, apply strategies that worked against the Devourer of the Stars combat before.

Continue the attack with the Prince Archetype but heal other party members who are in critical condition. It's good to have three aggressive members in your party and one that can heal so that your HP meter may be full as much as possible.

Do this using the least number of turns possible, protecting yourself from the blows with fire-repellent equipment or skills like Tetrakarn and Magic Counter. Give him tons of damage in the shortest time possible and defeat him without wasting any more time than necessary. Very prolonged combat will result in the boss equipping the Prince Archetype and unleashing the so-called Armageddon's Final Sire strike in short order.

Your rewards will be a Radiant Crystal Accessory and a Dragon's Legacy Sword that can be equipped by the protagonist at the end of the battle, capable of dealing Almighty damage. Other than that, you will unlock the "Entrusted" achievement.
