While stealth is the core of your mission in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, being well-equipped is essential for survival. The game features a wide array of weapons, from conventional assault rifles to unique non-lethal gadgets. With over two dozen weapons to collect, tracking them all down can be a challenge.This guide details the location of every weapon in the game, including important notes on what to look for during the prologue and main story.

MGS Delta Snake Eater:  All Weapon Locations

Important Notes on Weapon Collection

  • Virtuous Mission vs. Operation Snake Eater: Any weapons you acquire during the Virtuous Mission prologue will not carry over to the main game. If you want a weapon from the prologue, you will have to find it again during Operation Snake Eater.
  • New Game Plus: Most weapons do not carry over to a new playthrough. The only exceptions are the Patriot and the Single Action Army, which are permanently unlocked after you complete the game.

Core Weapons


These are the essential firearms you will find on your journey.

  • Survival Knife: Unlocked by default at the start of your mission.
  • Mk22: The tranquilizer pistol of choice. This non-lethal weapon is unlocked by default.
  • M1911A1: A classic pistol unlocked through story progression in the early stages of the game.
  • SVD: A powerful sniper rifle.

    • Virtuous Mission: As soon as you encounter your first guards, turn right to find this weapon in a hidden area.
    • Operation Snake Eater: Found in a weapons storeroom in Ponizovje West. To reach it, follow the left path along the river after defeating The Pain.
  • AK-47: A reliable assault rifle.

    • Rassvet: Found at the top of the metal stairs.
    • Bolshaya Past Base: Can also be found in the weapons storeroom.
  • XM16E1: A fast-firing assault rifle.

    • Dolinovodno (Virtuous Mission): Found in a small alcove underneath the rope bridge.
    • Graniny Gorki Exterior: Inside Walls (Operation Snake Eater): Found in the weapons storeroom on the right side of the building.
  • M37: A powerful shotgun.

    • Rassvet (Virtuous Mission): Found next to some crates near the destroyed brick walls.
    • Chyornaya Peschera Cave (Operation Snake Eater): Found along the path to the right.
  • M63: A light machine gun. Found in a storage room inside the central building in Svyatogornyj East.
  • RPG-7: A powerful rocket launcher. Found in a small shed near the door where you meet up with EVA in Krasnogorje Mountainside.
  • Scorpion: A fast submachine gun. Found inside a locked storage room on the first floor of the Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing. You'll need to drag a guard to the door or use the Raikov disguise to gain access.

Non-Lethal and Utility Weapons

These items are essential for a non-lethal playthrough or for stealth and distraction.

  • Cigarette Gas Spray: A non-lethal spray that can knock enemies out. Found in an office in Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West.
  • Handkerchief: A non-lethal item used for CQC. Found inside a locker next to a TV in Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West.
  • Torch: A light source. Found near the waterfalls along the main path in Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch.
  • Mosin Nagant: A non-lethal sniper rifle. Obtained by defeating the boss, The End, non-lethally.
  • Claymore: An explosive trap. First found in Bolshaya Past South. Obtained by crawling over a deployed claymore from behind.
  • TNT: A standard explosive. First found in Bolshaya Past Base in the weapons shed in the northeastern corner of the area.
  • Book: A distraction item. First found in Graniny Gorki South near a tripwire trap on the left side of the area.
  • Mousetrap: Used for capturing small animals. First found in Bolshaya Past Base underneath a bed and inside the food storage building.
  • Fork: A melee weapon. Unlocked by story progression.
  • Magazine: Obtained automatically after fully emptying a weapon's magazine.

Grenades

Grenades are common and can be found in many locations, often in groups. They can also be obtained by holding up enemy guards.

  • Grenade: Standard explosive grenade.
  • WP Grenade: White Phosphorous grenade.
  • Stun Grenade: A flashbang that stuns enemies.
  • Chaff Grenade: A device that disables electronic equipment.
  • Smoke Grenade: A grenade that creates a cloud of smoke for cover.

Special Unlockable Weapons

These powerful weapons require specific conditions to unlock.

  • Patriot: A powerful submachine gun. Unlocked after completing the story.
  • Single Action Army: A revolver. Unlocked by story progression and then unlocked permanently after completing the story.
  • EZ GUN: A non-lethal tranquilizer pistol with unlimited ammo and enhanced camo. Unlocked by collecting all 48 plants and animals to earn the Markhor title. It is also available by default on Very Easy difficulty.
