While there are countless animals to hunt, mushrooms are a reliable and crucial source of sustenance. To fully complete your Food Collection and earn the prestigious "King of the Jungle" title, you must find all seven types of mushrooms scattered throughout the game.This guide will provide a detailed breakdown of every mushroom, where to find it, and what unique effects it has on Snake.
MGS Delta Snake Eater: Collect All Mushroom Types
Mushrooms are easily gathered. You can either shoot them with any of your firearms or use a basic CQC combo to kick them. Once collected, they will appear in your food inventory. Be aware that some poisonous mushrooms will cause a status effect when consumed, requiring you to use the Cure menu to heal Snake. It's always a good idea to collect them and keep them in your inventory to be safe.
The Seven Mushrooms of Metal Gear Solid Delta
Some mushrooms are plentiful and can be found in many differentareas, while others are location-specific and can be easily missed ifyou don't know where to look.
Russian Oyster Mushroom
- Location: Found in Dremuchij and most other forest areas.
- Description: This common mushroom grows on the sides of trees and logs. While itprovides a good stamina boost, Snake will find that it tastes terrible.
Siberian Inkcap
- Location: First found in Dremuchij, this mushroom is also widespread throughout many of the game's forest zones.
- Description: Growing near the base of trees, this mushroom is another staple of thejungle diet. Like many of the fungi Snake encounters, he will find thatits taste is quite unpleasant.
Baikal Scaly Tooth
- Location: First appears in Dremuchij and can be found in most other forested areas.
- Description: This mushroom is typically found growing on the trunks of trees. It's a key part of your Food Collection, but be prepared for a terrible tastewhen consuming it.
Ural Luminescent
- Location: This mushroom is highly missable and can only be found in the Svyatogornyj West area.
- Description: A poisonous mushroom that grows at the bottom of trees. It tastesterrible and will cause a poison status effect when eaten. It is crucial that you collect this mushroom while you are in the Svyatogornyj Westzone, as you will not be able to return to this area later in the game.
Fly Agaric
- Location: Primarily found in the Graniny Gorki area, growing near trees.
- Description: A poisonous mushroom that is not recommended for consumption. Itprovides a small stamina boost but will cause a poison status effectthat needs to be cured.
Russian Glowcap
- Location: Found exclusively in the Chyornya Peschera Cave.
- Description: This unique, luminous mushroom is easy to spot in the dark caves due to its glowing properties. While it doesn't provide a significant staminaboost, consuming it will recharge your battery-powered items, such asNight Vision Goggles.
Spatsa
- Location: Found in specific areas, including Graniny Gorki Lab 1F, Svyatogornyj South, and Sokrovenno West.
- Description: This mushroom grows at the base of trees and, when consumed, willinduce a sleep effect on Snake. This can be used strategically to feigndeath and avoid enemy detection, but it can also be a hindrance ifconsumed by mistake.
Important Tips for Completing Your Collection
- Don't Miss the Rare Ones: As noted, the Ural Luminescent and Russian Glowcap are only found in specific areas. Make sure you collect them beforeleaving their respective zones, or you'll have to start a newplaythrough to get them.
- Use Your Thermal Goggles: Ifyou're having trouble spotting a mushroom, equip your Thermal Goggles.They will highlight living organisms and heat sources in theenvironment, making it much easier to spot fungi on the forest floor.
- Call Para-Medic: After you eat each type of mushroom for the first time, make sure tocall Para-Medic on your codec. She will provide humorous and insightfuldialogue about each one, adding to the game's detailed world-building.
- Check the Food Collection Menu: To track your progress, open your Survival Viewer and navigate to theFood menu. A checkmark next to each item indicates that you havesuccessfully collected it for your records.
