In the dense jungles of
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, there are countless animals to hunt and capture, but none are as rare and elusive as the mythical
Tsuchinoko. This legendary, serpent-like creature is the key to unlocking one of the game's most powerful rewards and is a requirement for the
Believe It or Not trophy/achievement.This guide will show you where to find the Tsuchinoko, how to capture it, and what you need to do to secure the ultimate prize.
MGS Delta Snake Eater: How to Catch a Tsuchinoko
Tsuchinoko Locations
The Tsuchinoko can only be captured in specific zones throughout the game. It is a very rare spawn, so you should save your Mousetraps for these areas. Here are all the locations where a Tsuchinoko can appear:
- Dremuchij (North, South, and Swampland)
- Chyornyj Prud
- Bolshaya Past South
- Graniny Gorki South
- Svyatogornyj (South and West)
- Sokrovenno (North, South, and West)
How to Capture the Tsuchinoko
You can only capture a Tsuchinoko using a Mousetrap. It cannot be seen with the naked eye and is invisible even to detection itemslike Thermal Goggles or the Anti-Personnel Sensor. Its capture is amatter of luck and persistence.
Tips for a Successful Capture
- Use Mousetraps: The Tsuchinoko can only be caught with this item. Place your traps and wait for them to snap shut.
- Clear the Area: To increase your chances, it's a good idea to kill or capture everyother animal in the area before you set your Mousetraps. With feweranimals around, there is a higher chance that the Tsuchinoko will be the next thing to get caught.
- Patience is Key: It may take several attempts. If your trap catches something other than a Tsuchinoko, you can simply retrieve it and try again.
The Easiest Method for Capturing the Tsuchinoko
One of the most reliable and earliest opportunities to capture the Tsuchinoko is in the Bolshaya Past South area.
- Get the Mousetraps: You will first need to acquire Mousetraps. There are two you can find in the next area, Bolshaya Past Base. One is in the wooden provisions shed in the center, and another is under the bed in the central building.
- Head to Bolshaya Past South: Once you have the Mousetraps, go back to Bolshaya Past South.
- Place the Traps: Place your Mousetraps on the ground just a few steps into the area.
- Force a Respawn: To force the game to respawn the animals, run back and forth betweenBolshaya Past South and Bolshaya Past Base. After a few trips, checkyour traps, and you'll eventually find a Tsuchinoko.
What to Do After You Capture It
Once you have the Tsuchinoko in your inventory, do not eat it. There is only one in the entire game, and eating it will ruin your chances of getting the ultimate reward.
Later in the game, Snake will have all of his equipment taken away, and theTsuchinoko will be lost from his inventory. Do not panic! You will havean opportunity to get it back.
After you regroup with EVA at the waterfall in Tikhogornyj and get your gear back, head back outside to the area with thewaterfall. The Tsuchinoko will be crawling around. You can spot iteasily with your Thermal Goggles.
The Ultimate Reward
If you manage to keep the Tsuchinoko in your inventory all the way to the end of the game, you will be rewarded with the Infinity Face Paint. This incredibly rare and powerful reward gives you infinite ammo for every weapon in the game, making future playthroughs much easier and more fun.
